Red face The UK Needs You!

We need your help in the UK! AUTOCAR (available in the States I'm sure) is the UK's largest circulation motoring mag.

Interested in voting the AC Cobra 289 Autocar’s Most Beautiful Road Car in World? And maybe winning 2 tickets to the British GP in the process?
Then contact me for an entry form. You have 6 weeks to vote.

Background
Autocar 27th November issue launched a competition to find the readers’ 100 most beautiful road cars of all time. In this issue, the experts had their vote, and the AC Cobra 289 came 7th out of 100. The entry form asks that you pick your top ten choices, and whoever’s list comes closest to the overall top 10 will win 2 VIP tickets to the 2003 British GP. Results will be published at the end of January, so don’t worry about Xmas posting – you’ve got about 4 weeks from today (18th Dec).

How do I enter?
If you don’t have the entry form out of that Autocar issue, contact me by post with a Stamped Addressed Envelope back to yourself and I’ll send you a photocopy entry form by return (perfectly eligible). The rest is up to you. My contact details:

Tactical voting would probably follow closely the Autocar experts (apparently hundreds from the car industry were involved) but it’s your choice!

So here’s your chance to show the world your allegiance to the 289. Vote NOW!

I’m awaiting your envelope!

Colin,

Aren’t Citroens made by the French? Why would anybody place such a car on a list of this type? Is it a combination car contest and psychological test?

Cheers, Pete

Pete

We have to be nice to the French - we're a lot nearer than you are! Plus, their car designs have produced some of the best (and the worst) in the world. Witness the fuss being made now about headlights that steer round corners, first seen on a Citroen DS in the sixties!
Are you in or out of the compo?

Colin

Errr, Colin, sorry to do this to a fellow Brit, but you are dead wrong. We do most certainly not have to be nice to the French. In fact, phuk 'em.

And I already did the Autocar thing.

The best car picture I ever saw was a the tiny Citreon parked under the nose of an SST airplane. One SO ugly, the other SO majestic.

The caption read:

One day, you too will grow up to be a beautiful swan.

Until then,,,,,why is Citreon on the list again? LOL

Colin,

I'm in but I think the French should keep their cars as well as their air space to themselves!

Cheers, Pete

Default On the subject of 289's

Not that I wanted to promote myself this way (yeah right!)...but!!! As you mentioned the 289, I have just completed a drawing of quite a famous 289 MkIIIci. If you'd like to take a peep before it's released as a Limited Edition Print go to
http://www.voomart.co.uk.

Have to admit that the 289 is jostling for my #1 spot with the ol'Aston DB5, I had the Dinky toy at aged 6 you see.

Wilf,

Hear,Hear!!

Maybe after we kick old Saddam's rear and they find the missing chemical and biological weapons, our dear French and German friends will finally make a stand.

Thank goodness for our British, Aussie and New Zealander friends. It is nice to know you have some friends left in the world.

Regards,

Keith

Can someone post a pic of the drawing? I'm having some kind of weird issue accessing the link - something about improper credentials - must be UK customs and immigration at work again

Try this: www.jetredmedia.com

There seems to have been a change of address - very odd. The car in the drawings is no longer owned by John Andon and is for sale through Jonathan Bradburn in the UK. It will be reassuringly expensive....!!!

Might be the fact that the original post is 4 years old. DOH!!

I do know that Rod Leach had PPE 20 E forsale for a while, the other Cobra was yellow when John Andon owned it,both cars have also been owned by Bill Bridges.I remember seeing "PPE 20 E" on a TV show with Gordon Ramsey driving it.

What a gorgeous looking car
