That's basically it - except most I ran across had street wedges w/o hood scoops. If I could have bought one in and around Kansas City in the 60s, I could have bought a half dozen.

Finally pulled my car home from the warehouse where I painted it and got it out from under the flourescent lights and out in some natural sunlight. I found one little ripple and a couple areas of remaining light orange peel that will need a little more attention but overall it look pretty good. It's only been compounded after color sanding with a wool pad. I still have a lot of buffing to do and I still have the door, trunk and hood jambs polish out. Finally I'm about to the point I can start assembly. It's about time.

Looks great. Don't worry about it being a 'Show Car' paint job, especially if you're gonna drive it. After a couple years and a few miles, the paint develops a certain amount of patina, which actually looks pretty great too. Good luck. Nice color choice.

Dan, respectfully--I would (and do) use the blue 3M tape. I think the green is too aggressive for brand new paint.
Jus' sayin'...
I see the bolt-on rears and the dolly wheels in front. Did you change the hubs from pin drives??

I actually removed the tape right after these pictures. I used the green so it would stay stuck as the polisher ran over it but I am real careful to peel it straight back over itself when removing it. I do use the blue tape for most everything else.
No, I went with the 5-pin bolt on adaptors. I just couldn't see the extra money at the time for the 6-pin, however in hindsight I'm not sure it would have been a whole lot more considering I wouldn't need to pay for adaptors with the wheels.

BUT the good news is it let's you easily attach 'push around' tires for work like this. Don't want your good mags near a paint booth...

And with the 5 lugs you can get yourself a spare tire for "free" compared to what one would cost for pin drive.
Paint job looks great! I know you're getting a lot of satisfaction from doing such a job yourself. That's part of the beauty of this hobby - choosing just how much of a challenge you feel you can take on yourself, and then doing it!

Looks great, I am in the process of making my Contemporary into the same car. This weekend's project is glassing in the big hole where the Lemans cap used to be in preperation for the new "correct" Street cap. I too am going "black", from Red/black stripes.
Your car is helping with my motivation.

Sounds good. I think the increased popularity in the 289 and FIA cars is building a bit of a increased interest in the 427 Street Roadsters. I look forward to seeing more of them around.

Yes, I do have to fight haviing a bit of an inferiority complex in going with the 5 pin wheels. But I have a 66 Corvette with essentially the same set up so I was kind of use to them. Buiilding a fairly faithful Street Roadster stretches the budget some and it was a place a felt OK in saving a few dollars. Good thought on the spare tire too

I painted the fender vents which have been a problem. I've painted them 3 times now with touch up guns and air brushes and still haven't managed to get a finish good enough to go with untouched. An air brush was about the only way to get to the back side of the louvers. I'm resigned to having to de-nib them and color sand the paint. There are usually just 2 or 3 little nibs or small defects each time but they drive me crazy. I'm not sure how I'm going to polish them yet. I've experimented with a dremil and some buffing rolls but it wasn't what I need for a final finish. Painting them is truely a pain. I wish I had them powder coated.

You're painting them while they're not installed in the fender, right? I have pics of when Connecticut Custom was doing mine and the louvers are removed.

Yes - unistalled. The last time I sat in a lawn chair in front of the exhaust fan in my paint booth, holding it in my hand and sprayed them with an air brush. Still not happy with the results. But I'll get it worked out.

I'm making a little progress. Assembly in general is a lot more fun than endless body work and sanding.
Front suspension is mostly in.
The floors, footboxes, and engine bay panels are in. The trunk is in progress. An air riveter is definately nice to have.
The underside of the aluminum floors is treated with Lizard Skin. I extended the footbox insulation ERA provided to the underside of them. This is to help with heat from te undercar exhaust.
Next is finishing the trunk panels, front rotors and wheels/tires and then on to several hundred more little jobs.

If you do that, just remember that not all hose is DOT-approved. Inspections, and all that...
