Sorry guys … did not intend to rile up the natives!

I agree … if your goal is an authentic looking Racing 289 FIA, then from the front brake scoops to the bungie cord on the boot, leave it exactly as they were raced … right down to the Viking blue paint, Weber carbs and FIA wheels.

Was only making a suggestion ...

Heater = Wife rides in cobra, using cobra in /on trips where normally a veto would be encountered. --

The ERA heater fits well. The shutoff valve at the engine = less to go wrong. Driving on 30 and 40 degree days should be much more comfortable than is the case with our well-insulated '52 MG TD, which lacks a heater. (I used 1/8" closed-cell foam on all interior surfaces when I restored the car 15 years ago--it gives the vinyl a "soft-touch" feel that certainly isn't original but is appreciated).

The unit Gatorac mentions from Southern Rods is very compact. I have added a custom plate to the bottom of the unit that has a nozzle each side for passenger and driver heat it also connects to defrosters (with correct blades of course). It has a two speed fan and a shutoff under the dash. I think that's a great way to extend the driving season and my wife just needs to hear a fan running to think she's getting warm. It doesn't even matter if it's blowing cold air on her!
