Buzz,
The badges are great, and this side badge is very cool as well!
Any thoughts as to the following:
ERA 427
ERA 289
ERA 289
FIA (text centered of course)
Just wondering what they would look like ... not that they would ever be produced.

Gunner, why not try tilting the ERA somewhere between 10 to 15 degrees counterclockwise.....might look good and add some fluidity to the design.
Am really enjoying the "birth of a badge".

Right on! Is this cool or what? And we've got some real heavy weights working on this. Wow, it's very inspiring.

One more tonight before I wander off. You want squoosh, here's squoosh.
Workable. I think some balance between the adjacent strokes of the R and A might help.

Good stuff Gunner - that first one looks good - just a bit of tweaking on the serifs.
More badges - I know Bob wants to K.I.S.S. but hey, I enjoy this stuff.

What I would like is the rectangular "Powered by Ford" badges to say "ERA - Powered by Ford"...

Buzz's design is REALLY nice. I like the one with the Cobra in it the best. The checkered flags reminds me of a Corvette.
Gunner, I like the change very much, but the A gets too thick on the left hand bottom side.
Tough call guys.

Not really. Buzz's stuff is first-rate, but it moves a long ways away from the traditional. If this were an open competition of some sort, I'd be thinking about more modern (or modern take on retro look) designs. (Bob: you should seriously consider an updated look like what Buzz is showing before staying with an era - heh heh - style. It may be years too late to change, though...)
My last version is close to a workable design in the AC mold. The proportions of the R and A need to be adjusted a lot, though, you're right.
Buzz: you've got some background in this, I discern...

Buzz IS a master at this sort of thing, no question!
I'm leaning toward "old school" and "kiss" on this one, I'll go with Gunner, black and white, script, AC style.
IF we throw in some color, Buzz has it covered, you can't beat the red, white and blue theme. Loose the flag(s) though, increase the font size...
Color or black and white, works for me, getting closer...
This particular rendition really lends itself to the steering wheel center.

Gunner - no fear buddy, not competing at all, just having a bit of fun. Yes, I do dabble a lil' bit in this sort of thing now and again. The fancy badges are not so much of a serious submission, more of an exercise of the imagination.
Here are a few more variations on the AC theme. The basic look is there and there's a thousand ways to make it work, just a matter of tweaking the details. I'm sure you'll pull it off with resounding success.
Someone wanted to see a 427 version of the side emblem - here it is, but I think Ol' Shel has a lock on "427" does he not?

Hmmm, I don't think that's 100% right Buzz, I believe it's something more like, Shelby Cobra 427®, 427 S/C® and several other variations on the theme.

I'm sure you're right Ex. I thought I remembered seeing it listed in one of the lawsuit documents. Not likely any court would give someone exclusive rights to a stand alone number.

Which is all I'm doing. I can tinker with a layout in one screen while working on other things. If something comes out of this, good. If not, it's an entertaining puzzle to poke at.

Just came across this thread, been working on another side project which is taking up my time. I think its a great idea to have the ERA badges. I never got a steering wheel badge put me down for one of the ERA steering wheel badges.

I also wanted to see 427 on the side badge--you incorporated it well and it looks great!

Awesome work here guys! Just a comment from a non-owner in the peanut gallery. Why not reverse the location of the ERA and the 427 on the side badge. Put the 427 between the red and blue stripes. Also, you could make a variation that has 289 and another that has FIA.
