Question ERA Rear Susp...Camber/Toe curves at full droop..

Wondering what the camber/toe affects are at full droop relative to static ride height with the ERA rear susp.? Does Toe change much in/out? Reason for asking is I recently got the car a bit light on a straight bit of hilly country road and when the suspension compressed, the rear end went squirrly...made me a bit uneasy. Could this also be an affect of the LSD or the hard BFG's on the car? I know the squirrly-ness wasn't a result of broken traction or suddenly increased wheels speed...seemed to be more of a suspension geometry thing.. I believe the car to be set a the specified alignment settings.

Thanks in advance,

- Allen.

Default Talk to Doug or Bob P at ERA

Fullchat289 Allen Talk to Bob or Doug at ERA first. Did you just start driving this car? As far as tires, BFG's are not my favorite tire. It's hard to find a good tire in a 15" size. Alot of guys are running Avons and are happy. If you are driving the car hard, you may not have enough spring under it. The setup ERA sells the car with is an ALL AROUND good driving setup. Also something to talk to Doug about. You can turn up the shock adjustments in the rear for dampening to the next setting. Rick L.

You might want to check your rear alignment as that can cause what you felt . I had a race shop set my car up and do the alignment ... they got all crossweights equal and wheel weights as close as possible to equal with me in the car . The car would go sideways in lower gears when I got on it hard before ... now it squats a little and goes straight . BTW , I`m running the Avons and 26 psi on all four with the ERA independent outboard brake rear end .

There's negligible toe change over the entire suspension movement. (It's nice to start off with a clean slate...) The camber change is only about 1/2 deg per inch, which is pretty standard for modern suspension. As the above posts suggest, I would look at the static toe-in (stick to the specs), the spring balance, and the tires.

Thanks everyone. I'll have a look at all these things shortly. After checking the static settings, removing the BFG's and replacing them with Avons or other will be on the short list.

Cheers,

- Allen.
