That Hi-Tech out of Fl would be hard to beat that is on cobra country.

Just went for a 160 Mile round trip! A shade over 34 degrees on the way back, nice and cozy... Went to see my Shelby buddy but he didn't like the cold weather too much. I don't know Bill, it's growing on me! As you know the "FIA" market is VERY small compared to the 427 big brother. Keep me updated. Regards, Matt

I've got a maximum budget (IE: what was left after I sold my 427SC) in mind seeing I've got one in college for another 2-3 years. Know what I want, know how I want it, and know there are several cars out there right now that come close.
I've actually got two good ERAFIA leads I'll be following up with this coming week (also had a two 427SC's offered to me, 1 Contemporary, and 1 ERA, but I still believe I'll find my FIA this time).....

curious; for those who have driven both the ERA FIAs and the ERA 427s; care to share driving impressions of the two?

Just out of my reach at the moment budget wise(with no chance of stretching it any higher for the foreseeable future), or I'd own it.

I understand entirely. This car to me is MY investment, it is what will ultimately help pay for my own kids college. It has always been considered this from the beginning. I have known this and I'm good with that. But, my kids are 8 years from even starting college, so I have time to enjoy it for a while. My battle will be the day I have to give my car to a new home. I've put so much time and my own self into this old car it has to be the right home! Your at the right time to buy, it's just got to fit all your parameters. Keep us posted. Regards, Matt

Bill,
Along with the very nice Hi-Tech FIA on Cobra Country, I am sure you have seen ERA 2031, which might be one to consider as well.
Can't say I would have used the 32V 4.6 liter modular motor, but it's very well done and the rest of the car is very nicely put together. The motor could be swapped for something more period correct if that is an issue, or just drive it the way it is.
Both look like very good cars for the money, I am sure there are others out there as well ... best of luck with your search.

Bill, Congratulations on selling your ERA. I hope it found a good home. It was one of the best. All the best on securing the new car.

Not only did it find a nice home, but one close enough that I can visit it . Less than 35 miles away....New owner is here on CC and will chime in when he feels like it I'm sure. As for the new car, the hunt is half the fun these days. I really want an FIA, but the 427SC Contemporary that fell into my lap (it is chasing me, I am not chasing it) is tempting..

I could go either or, why do you know of a Contemporary 289FIA that needs work? I remember long ago talking with someone in NY with one that was pretty beat up, but he wanted top dollar for it at the time even though it needed a frame up restoration/rebuild.

Bill, You've been there, done that. Hold out for something different. I have seen some decent FIA's out there.

289 fia
Hey Bill, I think Nick at Acton Custom is gonna have a alum bodied FIA with original style 3" chassis with leaf spring susp available very soon. A lot like what Fox- John & 1985CCX- Jeff are working on right now. It may be worth the time to call him and ask for a few details.
I would like to start a alum FIA after my 427 is painted.
good luck, karl
