Default ERA #773 Fuel Pump Location

The best place I can find to mount the filters, fuel pump and pressure regulator is on the front of the fuel tank, in the 4 1/2" space betweeen the front of the fuel tank and the back of the IRS.

A mounting plate could be welded to the front of the fuel tank and the fuel pump, filters and pressure regulator could be mounted to that. A sheet metal housing could be built to enclose and protect the components from the from the elements.

The fuel pick-up tube going down to the bottom of the tank is 3/8" O.D. This should be increased to 1/2" O.D. for -8 hose running to the fuel pump?

This location is not below the fuel tank, but is as low as the only other low elevation location, which is between the frame rails.

Are there safety issues that would preclude mounting the components in this location?

Or should the fuel tank be modified for an internal mounted fuel pump (Mallory 4305M)?

Wino;
I had a heavy sheet-metal bracket made that bolts to the diff. housing where the trailing arms connect, rises up and bends 90 degrees to bolt to the top of the diff. I have plenty of room to mount my pump and cannister filter and, most important, to service them. The top part forms a natural shelf for a fuse/breaker and ground connection. I drive a Unique but our jag rears are probably mounted the same.

We typically make a bracket that bolts to the outside of the chassis rail, behind the driver's side rear wheel. Plenty of room, cooler than behind the differential, and you can mount close to fuel level.
The 3/8" pickup has worked for some pretty large engines, but we can put in another pickup with an AN8 fitting if you want.
