Default I Found An '86 ERA For Sale - Help?

Hi, all:

I found an '86 ERA for sale. In the $20s. It has a 3.8 Pontiac engine and auto trans. Yuck! However, it has 9000 miles, no hit, apparently built by some outfit in CA originally.

Before my mind turns too wildly, can you give me some advice about this old girl, and the price, as you see it?

I'm a newbie to kit cars, having own only older Corvettes.

Thanks so much in advance!

What chassis # is it, that's where to start. Check the driver side footbox for an ID tag, or even with the radiator overflow molded into the body..

Well, apparently, this is a, um, Fiero, being sold by a kindly older gent.

Says it has some CA number of CO75465, then an N0065189. Je ne sais pas.

Then, on to what appears to be a GM vin: 1G2PF379...

I remember an article in Road and Track about a VW Bugatti having been mistaken much the same, so I don't feel any more (or less) sheepish than natural.

I am, however, stunned. Yes, that's it.

I had #178 for a time and now own #755. The 80's car was well designed and built well.

For $20k you could do a lot of work and still come in cheaper than many other kits. The basic ERA kit is more then $20k today.

As in, these number signify a real ERA? We, "real" being relative, but on the good side.

I thought it pegged as a Fiero-based job. Now curious as to which one. The kindly gentleman offering it is reviewing his paperwork.

I'm just drinking a beer quietly in the garage to Led Zeppelin I, waiting for my pulse to regulate after the false prospect of buying a cherry ERA copy earlier today.
