Default Lowering an ERA

I have an older ERA from the late 80's. I'm thinking about having it lowered front and back for a better look. How is that accomplished and is it something difficult and expensive or relatively simple?

First thing you need to do is measure your ride height, as a suggestion, start with a straight shot down the center of each wheel, measure from bottom of inner wheel lip to ground and post what you have. You might also want to post your tire sizes as inner fender clearances might be an issue. Finally, see the attached url for factory ride height suggestions.

Many ERAs have adjustable coil overs. If you do (refer to mrmustang's link) then lowering is free. Except you should get proper spanner wrenches.

Having just spent the afternoon sanding and spraying my 289FIA side pipes (and, subsequently, having a chance to examine the beating the bottom of my side pipes have taken...), be sure to leave proper clearance for your side pipes. I have my ERA at the recommended ride height and I still find speed bumps challenging.

I don't own an ERA, but a few suggestions when setting ride height. Measure from the frame to the ground for final settings. Most of these cars don't have perfectly level bodies. On my SPF, the body height difference is 1/2 inch side to side. And make sure you are measuring on a perfectly level surface. I have my ride height set while on local garages alignment stand. Your car will need realigned after you change ride height anyway, so that's a perfect time to set the height.
