Default Kirkey vintage race seat

Jim and HealeyRick - when I think of a "Kirkey vintage race seat", this is what I picture....

Why wouldn't that suit a 50s/60s Special?
Cheers,
Glen

Glen,

That would be entirely appropriate in my eyes, I was talking about the high-backed Kirkeys that look really out of place.

Would be nice if you came up with something similar to the D or C type Jag in aluminum. Just a thought. The 'new' ERA Cobra seats are quite comfortable, even after several hours. Good luck.

Perhaps some styling elements to consider...

Would you do a fairing behind the driver as on the Hagerman?

John:

The Sammio Spyder is interesting (Sammio recreations of early 1950s sports cars) in that apparently you can just purchase a body. A quick look at the web-site does not indicate what the dimensions of the chassis is required to be for their bodies. How much modifiaction are you going to have to do to have it fit a Miata (91-92") wheelbase and track (say 58")?

Jim

PS: ...as an aside, it would appear that you are located very upstate... somewhere near the Arctic Circle perhaps?

...and Kurtis has always been on my radar!

That is very cool. You'd have to dress like this when driving it though :

Jim The Sammio body is set up for a wheelbase of 91 inches and an overall width of 60 inches. The Miata's wheelbase is 89.2 and overall width is 66 inches. The Miata engine is taller as well and requires either a blister or scoop or redesigned hood. The photo shop pictures show the body 66 inches wide, an 89.2 inch wheelbase and a redesigned hood.

Glenn- I like the vintage looking low back aluminum seats. I think that I will look at them for my car as well.

I really like the Kurtis. 50's sports cars are my favorite cars.
