Default Seat height in an ERA 427 S/C

I am waiting for my car and still have some time to make changes. I've read about taller guys having some seat padding left out so they're not looking at the windshield frame. I've ordered the adjustable seat tracks, which increase the seat height by about 3/4 inch.

My question is this... I'm 5' 11". Do any of you guys roughly that same height wish you were sitting lower in the car? I don't want to give up some good butt padding if I don't need to, but don't want to be sitting up too high either.

Thanks.

Regards,

Kevin

I'm 5'11" and use the ERA seat tracks. No problem. The car fits well.

I`m 5-11 and have the adjustable seat tracks and on track days , wish I was about 1' lower . On the street , you`ll be fine .... and I am on the track . Just would like a little more space between the roll bar and the top of my helmet .

Don't have an ERA but a Exact which is perfect copy of CSX/Kirkham and I ended up bolting my original seat to the floor/frame with some shims in the front to tilt it back where I wanted it. Then put a Kirkey Racing seat in later and did the same thing and I love it as I sit real low in the car. Knowone will be driving my car so having it set where I want it is perfect. Something to consider....

Just a shade under 6' and have the tracks installed. Seat height is fine.

Thanks for all the great feedback. Hopefully this is the last thing I'll "over-think" ... at least until the car is in my garage

Regards,

Kevin

Kevin, wish I could add some sort of definitive response to your question but I haven't finished mocking up my seats installation yet. I'm starting out with the seats bolted to the floor and shims under the front. I sat one in it the other day (with reduced bottom padding) and climbed in. I was somewhat surprised by how relatively low with respect to the cowl that I seemed to be sitting. However, I don't currently have my windshield in so it was all a little inconclusive. I'm going to continue this way and when it's up and running, if I feel I could come up a little, I may add the seat tracks. I'm 6'2" with a 34 inseam.

I know you're not too terribly far from ERA. Are you planning to visit there again before your car is ready to pick up? I understand from Patrick's posts that they will do a trial seating mock up for you. I think building my seats was one of the last things they did on getting my car ready to ship. They actually arrived a couple weeks after the car.

Hi Dan,

Thanks for the helpful information. I recall posts about trial seating as well and will ask Peter about it. I believe that was recommended for folks outside of the 95% (very tall or very short). What spurred my post was a comment I read by someone close to my height that said they wished they sat lower in their car. The feedback I got to this post indicates I probably don't need to worry about it.

I'll verify and post again if there is anything to this...

Thanks,

Kevin
