No 'lectricity (sometimes)
Our power has been sporadic due to the hurricane. It came back on at my house after 6pm, but it is quite erratic. We'll probably be closed Tuesday due to the high winds, but if the power is still there tomorrow, I'll probably be at work, since I get there on foot.
For those in the Northeast, be careful out there. In case you didn't notice, it's a mess.

We're Baa-ack.
The hurricane seemed to circle us rather nicely. Connecticut's coast got clobbered, but we're 40 miles inland. We only lost power for about 4 hours. Not much of a story to tell the kids.
But - there's always the potential for embellishment.

We lost our power in the northeast portion of Maryland at 5:45 pm last night, and are still down. It may be days until commerical power is resumed. I was running on the treadmill when it came to an abrupt stop and I ran into the front control panel!
Thank goodness for the portable generator that's powering my home during this outage.

No power in CT again...14 days last year too. I got to thinking though...i have my 482 on a run stand in my garage. Assuming typical efficiency, how many kw could i get out of it assuming a generator of unlimited size? Would be pretty cool to do. And yes, i realize it's totally impractical and idiotic. But I've got nothing better to do but ponder absurdities right now.

We got clobbered...they wont let us onto the islands yet but from what we can tell there has been damage unlike anything we have seen before. The roller coasters are on the ocean floor. The boardwalks are in large part gone and the property damage is astronomical. Our floating docks were ripped off the pilings before the storm even hit-combination of full moon tide and surge. Wait till the images come out, it is bad. Glad loss of life was minimal all things considered. I am heartbroken as are many of us here along the Jersey shore but material things are just that, I have my family and that is all I need There are a few NE folks on here so hope you are all ok.

David you shoulda hooked the treadmill to the generator. We're getting a second wave of it now but it's just heavy rain. That wind last night took out power 3 times (utility crews are great) and about cleaned every leaf off that was left.
