Question Trailer for Rent???

Bob,

Would you know of anyone local (Central Connecticut) that would have an enclosed car tailer that I could rent for a weekend??

Right now I'm in the process of preparing car 611 for primer. I estimate 4 weeks before all the blocking and sanding will be done.

Then I'll be looking for an enclosed trailer to bring 611 to and from the paint booth aroung 11/17 or so. Rocky Hill to Middletown and back. Total trip 20 miles.

The tow vehicle is a 2000 S-10 so it's capacity to tow is limited to <5000lbs.

Any help would be appreciated. I have access to several open trailers as a last resort. I figure that since the only time 611 will be on a trailer, it should enjoy a nice enclosed one. Especially with fresh paint.

Thanks

Todd,

Sorry about the delay - your post got by me.

Unfortunately, I don't know of any rental deals. You might want to try Don Descoteaux ("Dakota"). He has done some local deliveries for us and he lives in Southington. 860-276-3939 or 860-628-0494. I hope those numbers are still current.

If you can't get a trailer you can do this, I did and it worked great.
I rented a 15 foot Ryder box van and got a couple of friends to help me push the car into it using the dollies from ERA. The dollies fit the Ryder ramps like they were built for them.
This is assuming that the car is just a body and frame - running gear and suspension make it a bad idea. Anyway, the car fits fine and it is pretty cheap to do.

Thanks for the leads.
I'll give'm a try.
If this 75 degree weather keeps up, I'll be lucky!
Couldn't ask for nicer days for sanding and prep. work
in the garage.
