About $1200 more, give or take. As Chas would say, "ehhh, that's only two nights out at Ruth's Chris."

Well, that's certainly more than I expected for a "big brake option", but still a rounding error in an upscale Cobra build like an ERA.

I would think Chas is more of an Olive Garden kinda guy. You know, early bird specials and free bread sticks and all.

The price included ERA modified spindles, caliper brackets, braided hose with fittings, calipers, and the rotor modified for drive pins.
Now why would you think that.

I can't get out of that steak house for less a hundred a head, which totals out to north of $500, with gratuity.

Well, we see now why you ordered the ERA big brake option.

Where else can you go to get information on Cobras, information on pricing at a major steakhouse and medical advice all in one thread?

Default Going to Get one....

Looking to put deposit this week on an FIA, going with the ERA rear. Is it better to get the Wilwood brakes for the front through ERA or buy them aftermarket. Still making some decisions on what I want to buy when I purchase car and what parts to buy aftermarket.

I would recommend getting the complete braking set up from ERA. There are a few different combinations and Peter & crew can walk you through the choices.

Are you thinking a roller or do more of the assembly yourself? Either way, you will wind up with a great Cobra (IMHO)

Looking to build it myshelf. Hoping to see if their are any ERA Cobras at the NorCal Saac event at Sears Point this weekend. Also have a friend with a GT40 kit in Danvile that gets together with some Cobra Guys for breakfest, like to show up and take a look. I have read you build, love the look of your car... just sold a 67 Gt350 clone, was going to build a 69 Boss 302 Trans am car but I always liked the FIA cars since Birth..... Cant wait to start building.

Thanks … it turned out well. You are welcome to come take a look at my ERA.

Also, check out Dangerous Doug's ERA FIA, he did the complete build himself and it's beautiful. Sent you a PM.

I went through the same thought process and ended up buying the Wilwoods through ERA. I just installed the brakes last week, and I'm glad I didn't try to source them myself. ERA machines the knuckle and adds a mounting bracket, and I think they machine the wheel for clearance as well. If you buy everything through them you will get a tested solution that will fit with no issues. My brakes went right on with a few shims and everything fits flawlessly.

BTW, I'm on the Peninsula so PM me if you want to discuss the brakes, or stop by and see my build.

Will the 15" 5 pin FIA-Style wheel fit on front Wilwood brake and will it fit the ERA Rear end?

Yes, if the rim profile is the same as a 6-pin wheel, which I believe it is.

On the bolt-on outboard-brakes, we mount the rotor hat between the wheel and the hub face. That moves the wheel about 0.20" out. That will probably fit without further backside machining. What we'll have to check is whether there is enough thread left over on the stock studs to use the special lug nuts.

I'm using the optional front Wilwoods with 15" FIA wheels. They fit perfectly. I also bought and installed the Wilwood shims, which often decrease squeal and noise. I used two shim washers on each caliper bolt and the rotors are almost perfectly centered. Easy and nice.

It looks like the rear studs will have to be replaced in order to leave enough threads for the adapter nuts. That's a little more complicated than it sounds: they are threaded in and then staked on the backside. Replacing them will require some machining.

That sounds like a PITA. You know, like "Step Three - Pull Engine, Trans. and Rear."
