Default Roll Bar End Links

Bob - The front end links on my car seem long. The bar is at quite an angle relative to the lower control arm. I would like to run the ba, parallel to the lower control arm. I mocked it up and it leaves about 2 5/16 between the bar mount and arm mount when both are parallel to ground. I have a blown shock mounted with no spring and I can fully cycle it. The bar appears to articulate with no binding within the shock travel. I threw a mounted tire up there as a sanity check and it all looks good.

I want to run rod ends. It looks like it will work - compact, but doable.

Am I missing something?

Side note - I threw a front lower control arm on a CMM and ended up with a .96 motion ration. Got some leverage out there.

Very nice and thank you.

There is no "ideal" configuration, since the arcs of the lower control arm and anti-sway bar are in different planes. As long as you can get a rod-end-type link to work without binding, that's OK with me. My preference is a longer link, since that minimizes side forces on the end of the anti-sway bar.

I was thinking of running a couple of collars. We'll have to full assemble and check.

Make sure the rod ends chosen have enough angularity allowance for the the entire travel.

Yes - great advice - we set the lower control arm to max bump and had 12 degrees. That blew our original arm mounting of the water as the ends were only good for 10.

We will rotate the lower link to rotate in an axis parallel arm bushings axis. At that amount of travel, it appears the bar only moves 2 degrees so the 10's should work. I ordered high mis-alignment ends anyway to assure we won't bind fore aft.

We are removing the stock bracket and adding a new bracket. We are looking at building the misalignment into the bracket so at rest the links are misaligned. As the suspension articulates the link will end up as normal as we can get it.

Maybe high misalignment joints would help.

Prototype for the new links. New bracket tacked in place.

10 degree rod end top - 15 degree bottom.

Both in double shear - no binding thru full range of motion.

Will finish with button head fasteners. Can hardly wait to try it all out.

Make allowance for a thin Jamb nut, and be sure the Rod End does not have exposed threads in the captured area, they should ride on untreaded surface of fastener. Nice work!
