Installing seat tracks
My seats aren't bolted down at this point - I'm thinking about purchasing the ERA available seat tracks. Can anyone briefly outline what is involved in installing them? Are the seats easily removed after installing seat tracks?
Thanks.

On my Kirkham, the seat tracks bolt to the seat, and the tracks bolt through the floor to the frame, so the seat and track become one piece per say, and all you do is remove the nuts holding the bolts under the car, and the seat and track come out together...

The later cars might have a slightly different hole patterns between the seat mounting into the floor and the adjusting tracks. Not a big problem to fix. Email me and I'll send you the mounting hole pattern. eracars <at> sbcglobal.net

Having adjustable seats in your Cobra is a real treat. Not much work involved.

Bob,
The seat tracks in #755 lock on one track per seat. My earlier ERA had locks on both tracks per seat. Your pdf above shows the locking track.
Is this correct or am I missing a piece? There is very slight movement at times do to the single lock.

I never liked seat tracks as I like to to sit lower in the car so I usually bolt my seats to the floor/frame & brackets and make a riser for the front to adjust for the correct tilt of the seat. Knowone ever drives my car so it is set for me but pretty much as far back as it can go. Gives you a lot more room..

The other track is similar, but doesn't have the locking system. I've never noticed the play myself.

Bob,
The play is slight. These cars are supposed to be more crude than a new Corvette.
Thanks for the info.

Installing the seat tracks is no problem and very helpful for sharing the driving with a spouse of vastly different height! Removal of the seats is no problem, either, with the tracks in place. Entry and exit are even easier when you can move the seat all the way back to the bulkhead, then adjust it as necessary (if necessary!) for driving.
