Default Need More Mirrors

Greetings to Everyone,
So, I love my ERA 427S/C Replica, but, I hate my mirrors. She has to usual small bullet on the left front fender and the small rectangular mirror mounted on the dash and nothing on the right side. I hate driving with the right side blind. Anyone add extra mirrors and can give advise? Thanks so much in advance. Art Fink

How about a windshield-mounted mirror for the right side?

That is what I have and it makes a world of difference. You can actually see behind you not the hips of your back fenders.

I've read other threads regarding the fender mounted mirror but didn't see a consensus of opinion. I'm still building my car and have the fender mounted mirror. I've replaced the flat glass mirror that came in it with a convex mirror but haven't mounted it yet. Before I go drilling holes in the body, if anyone else has also replaced the flat mirror with a convex mirror I'd like to hear how effective that was. I've read opinions both ways on other threads, so figured I'll just have to see for myself.

Regards,

Kevin

You may also want to check out FinishLine. They have the Raydots, mounting brackets, and thumb nuts. I think that's all you need. Thanks for the idea, BTW. I'm going to use one of these for a right-hand mirror.

Kevin - I decided not to install the fender-mounted mirror because I had read they were not real useful. At the encouragement of others I bought the ERA windshield frame-mounted mirror to install instead. But - of course I don't have the car on the road yet.

Hi Dan,

Yes, and there is a thread that discusses changing the flat mirror with a convex mirror where one poster said it helped a lot and another said it's still worthless... That's when I decided I'll just have to give it a try and see.

Regards,

Kevin

I have the small ERA fender mounted mirror and wish I had never mounted it! I've added the convex mirror, and that is an improvement, but the image is too small (covers too much area) to clearly see what's behind you. Perhaps someone makes a stick-on that is less curved; mine came from Advance Auto or O'Reilly's. I'm also using a very wide clip-on mirror on the dash (again from O'Reilly's) that works very well - you can see practically three lanes behind you! If I were doing it over, I'd go with the Raydots from either ERA or Finishline.
Still, I'd like to hear from someone with the Raydots - can you really see out of the right side mirror?

Thanks for the comments...........recently changed the wheels to the vintage look and then decided it needed the meat balls and manufacture decals. Very happy the way it turned out!

If you can do any fabrication there are lots of motorcycles mirrors that can be mounted to the windshield frame. Many are very nice looking mirrors but you'll need to be able to make a mounting bracket for them. Good luck

You guys really have me thinking. Now I may not mount my fender mirror but instead get two windshield mounted ones. No risk, besides the cost of the mirrors, which isn't much. Two questions: (1) Anyone know where to get Raydots with the "Raydot" etching/logo? and (2) Anyone know where to get (1) with convex glass?
