West Coast Era Owner Clinic?
Bob Putnam
Here is an idea that is not only brilliant but self serving as well. Why" you ask. Easy it is my idea! That is why.
I already ran this by Peter and he thought it might be doable.
We have quite a few ERA owners in our neck of the woods.
I suggested we sponsor a West Coast ERA Owner's Clinic. A two day event.
No racing, no car show just an owner clinic.
Peter and yourself, or Peter and another or more of you folks travel to us and we bring our cars with some on going problems we might have.
We let you tell us how you would remedy the problem, help us learn how to set our cars up. Suspension tuning etc.
This could be an opportunity to correct some major mistakes some of us might have made during our build.
Here are the proposed plans.
1-I will provide 1, 2 or 3 round trip tickets to your staff free of charge.
2-I will provide a place to sleep, if they have no objection to staying in our home.If they do, I think the participants of the clinic could easily get you guys some rooms in a local hotel.
3-I will open the service department of our dealership for Saturday, and Sunday. I will have one or two mechanics to lend us tools and do some wrenching.
4-We have lifts alignment racks etc.
5-Only thing I can't do is tire work.
6_I can have Hunter Mobile unit bring out their Computer Vibration analysis machine, for any tire work-balancing etc.
I will also provide the caterers to do a barbaque for us. tell Peter I'll have tri-tips for him. that should do the trick.
There would be no charges for the use of our facilities, and I believe we would have over 10-15 ERAs show up.
I honestly believe this would go a long way to support your supporters and save us some grief.
You guys know these cars better than we do, and we certainly could use some of your expertise.
You could probably do a similar thing in Central USA and one down South etc.
I can't tell you it would create any more sales for you, but certainly would create a great deal of goodwill.
If you think this is good idea, please say so. If you think it stinks and obligates you or puts you in an awkward position, TOUGH!!
You'd expect no less from me, would you?
We might even have some Southern California contingent to show up.
This is my way of telling you how we envy those owners who live within an an hour or two of your facilities.
What do you say?
Preetty Pleaaase!

Bob:
The guys to send for a long weekend on the left coast are Doug and Richie... they, after all, actually build the cars.
Peter will only yak and eat... (not necessarily in that order).
You, as always, will be available "on Line."
...a much better plan.

Turk,
What a great idea!!!!!! Now if you could just move it a bit further south Slide and I would greatly appreciate it. If not, I would also try and make it anyway. I'd love to see your car face to face. I however, would not build a shrine to you in my garage. Maybe, to Dora.
Hope all is well with you, Steve

I think I've got a better idea!
S***ve Dickey
Good to hear from you too. I hope your car is coming along fine. Not having heard from you, I can only assume you are almost finished. Will you have it on the road in time for the
1st. ANNUAL WEST COAST ERA CUSTOMER CLINIC/AND FOCUS GROUP.
That would be...FAWCECCAFG.
Since I seemed to have scared the heebe, geebees out of Bob Punam that he won't even respond fearing he may be designated to come and face the masses, I will now do the next logical thing by starting a poll to apply more pressure. (They seem to be popular lately).
The reasons for asking for such an event to be held up North is obvious. I have the facility to host it.Besides I can be home with my car while others are locking their trailers.
You don't suggest we move the whole thing to some parking lot of a dental clinic, do you?
It really will be fun seing everyone, and may even invite Tom T.
Please respond to the poll under a new thread.

Yeah, I'm here, lurking.
I would love to come out to the left coast to see you guys but I'm so buried that you'll probably find me here on Christmas and New Years Day (and tomorrow, too). Not to mention, Doug is definitely the best candidate for the trip.
Peter will have to make the call. We are all buried with work and missing a key player will make us even further behind.. It's a tough choice, and Doug has to agree too...

BOB PUTNAM and TURK:
I, Pat Buckley, self proclaimed President for Life of the recently formed (I took a poll and I decided that we needed this) Sacramento Chapter of the ERA West Coast Owners Party (SCERAWCOP) would like to make a statement.
I took a poll and it seems that our members are 100% behind the idea of offering bribes to both Bob Putnam and Peter Portante in order to ensure their participation in what could be the first of many productive, publicity laden trips out to the land of fruits, nuts and flakes (hereafter to be referred to as the ALL BRAN state.
I am sure that all 7 members of SCERAWCOP would be behind this effort ( even if they knew about it), and are more than willing to contribute heavily to make it happen!

Ahh, ahhh Mr. Putnam..... I believe that this is also a noble effort and good thing to do for all those fine people on the west coast as well as good for Turk also.
Being within 45 minutes of your fine facility and everyday thinking that I should visit you, I believe that such a visit would be a great thing to do.
aaahhh ahhh, Bob --- NOT BEFORE MY CAR IS MADE!!!!!
Turk has labled me a "stalker" and that will never be more factual should this boondoggle take place before I get my car gets delivered (I know, I know --THIS is very sefserving)
Turk
Can I come out and take part in the events as well. I could actually learn a lot and not have to bother you with uncountable number of emails (when I do get my car) about what zangboodle goes in which zingbot. I believe that a round trip ticket from a fine east coast customer represenative such as myself would only enhance such a great event.
Your East Coast Pal

It is understandable if you couldn't come. Besides we are actually looking for people who don't mind getting their hands dirty. We don't need any more keyboard operators. We got plenty of those around here.
As for the timing, I wasn't asking for a specific date. I would think you guys could decide when it is more suitable.
I can't let Peter decide this. He is too smart to read in here.
I think Peter and Doug would be ideal. No reason for you to come. No white water rafting here. Isn't that what you do best?
ERA535
If they don't come, I am willing to arrange a trip for all 7 to take our cars to THEM. I don't think they would like that. We could always jam and flood their phone lines. I have been trying to hack their web site for a while now. Failing that we could drive them nuts right here on the Forum. Start with this.
-hey Bob!, we want to see your 1040 for 1999-and 1998 disclosed publicly. You said you gave $13.00 to Red Cross, and I have proof to the contrary!
JWheaton
I personally think coming here for a few days would be a welcome relief to those folks, thus escaping your daily-hourly intrusion into their busy work schedule asking them if your car is ready. Then on the other hand, you would drive them nuts asking them "ARE WE THERE YET?".
-Hey Bob, I would fly you guys FIRST CLASS if you would close shop and travel just one day before the delivery date of JWheaton's car.

Bob,
A couple of years ago when Turk was considering the purchace of a Contemporary he made the same offer to sponsor a "West Coast Contemporary owners clinic". They refused, and we all know what happened after that. As I'm no where near being done with my car, I still need you guy's. Of course having all those ERA's in one place, with you, Peter, etc., to offer suggestions could only result in me building a better replica and(as if it were possible) your company building an even better reputation!!!
Thanks, Steve D***ey #606
