Changing phone service! Pnones down for a while.
We're switching over from land lines to cable as I type. I expect the phones and internet will be out of service for under an hour (starting roughly at noon) during the process. Wish us luck!

The phones are back up, but are not rolling over from the 860-224-0253 number yet. John's working on it.
If you get a busy signal, try 860-229-7968 or 224-9445.
At least the Internet speeds have quadrupled from the old AT&T DSL. Uploads are 10x faster. That's Nice.

Yes, but it's only Day 1. Hopefully, you'll see the same speeds in coming months and years.

Hopefully this will work out in the long run. We are saving about $300/month on our phone/internet service. If nothing else, the installation was done on time, in a timely manner, by a genuinely nice (and professional) guy. The only F*Ups were by the salesman. Who would'a thunk?

Given Peter P's propensity for long conversations, I'll be shocked if 40% of them don't drop.

Yeah - that has typically been my experience with cable/internet/phone companies - salesman making crap up out of thin air.
"If I switch to your service you can bring it in over the same cable installed by my current carrier - right? Yes sir, no need to trench in a new cable - we can use what is there."
Followed two days later by a new cable stretching across my lawn that I mow around for 3 months before they come out to trench it in and sever several sprinkler head leads.
