Sun visor screw spacing on windshield

I have had ERA 755 for almost 4 years. When I purchased from the original owner the sun visors weren't installed.

The car looks clean without them, but I decided to install them yesterday to see if it helps redirect some of the wind.

The brackets that mount to the windshield frame have a significantly different hole spacing than the windshield frame (estimated .100" difference). Are there two or more hole configurations for the visor brackets? Where would I get the other version? Or, I can make my own if I have to?

Bob - Do you sell just the brackets? Do you happen to have prints for the two versions of brackets? It is helpful to have the exact spacing so that I can use an end mill to drill the holes and get them exact.

A few years back, Bob supplied prints for the soft top windshield mounting brackets. There were two bolt spacing options. I bet the visors are the same.

Grub: It would be my guess that unfortunately there are small dimension differences (from various suppliers) in either the small brackets (hole spacing) or the pre drilled holes in the windshield frame. Perhaps the prior owner got the hardware and sunvisors from a vendor other than ERA. Quite some time ago I was going to replicate the pre bent brackets that attach to the windshield frame because a small amount of the chrome had flaked on a couple of mine. I soon realized that after cutting and bending some stainless, that I would need a Mill and more toooling than I had to make it right, and then they would need to be polished. I bought another set. Thread locker is well advized on all the attaching screws and the set screws, as they take a lot of buffeting from the wind. They are definately a worthwhile addition. Use two hand when you adjust them, one at each pivot. Good luck........

There isn't enough adjustment where the sun visor mounting blocks clamp to the 45-degree brackets on the windshield?

The 2 holes in each of the 4 - 45 degree brackets are spaced quite a bit further apart than the holes in the windshield frame. The difference is much more than opening up the holes could fix.

Making new brackets would be pretty easy, but buying new ones is likely a better option.

Measure the distance between the holes in the Plexi. Maybe we've got something different.

The package of visor hardware had two sizes of 45 degree brackets. I didn't notice the first time. Picture is attached to show the difference.

Problem solved. I should have dumped all the parts on the work bench before I started.
