What size are the mufflers and does anybody know if a Backdraft heat shield will work/fit, or does ERA make a nice heatshield?

The normal side pipes are 4" in diameter. That's probably pretty standard. It's possible that the Backdraft pipes are from 100mm tubing: 3.94" equivalent.

My car has the "abnormal" SS ERA sidepipes. Still 4" diameter?

If by "abnormal" you're talking about the "Quiet" pipes, yes they are 4" diameter. The baffled part of the side pipe is simply longer than the standard pipes. I have the ss quiet pipes and the 4" diameter baffled area is 28" long.

I replaced my stock BDR side pipes with 4" stainless specialties mufflers. The BDR beat shields went on with no problem. The straps have plenty of adjustment.

Yes, Kevin. Thank you. I'm waiting for my car to arrive, but will need to have it inspected. They will most likely want to see it with heat shields installed for the inspection.

I'll send you a pm regarding an alternative.
