GT fuel lines
Bob,
What size are the supply and return lines (or fitting sizes)from the fuel cells on the GT? I'm gathering parts and pieces for the fuel system so I can run my engine before I bring it up. The EFI fuel pump suggests size 10 lines for the suction of the pump, 8 from the pump to the engine, and 6 return to the tank. This thing should never starve for fuel...unless I can't afford to keep the tank filled. For those using EFI, any leads on what valve they're using to switch tanks? I found a motorized valve made for dual tank applications, but it only has 3/8 supply and 5/16 return lines. 3/8 is kind of dwarfed by AN-10 hose and fittings. No sense going any bigger than the lines in and out of the fuel cell

Dave,
Holy sh*t! Dash 10 (that's 5/8" ID) for the intake? That should be good for about 2500 bhp. We normally use 3/8" feed and 1/4" return. I'm thinking about changing the system to feed off the back of the tank so that we won't have to run the stuff from the center of the tank. I guess I'll have to implement that now. There's no way I can fit anything larger from the middle...

That was about my reaction too when I saw the size of the fitting on the pump suction.
You know me Bob. Anything to be a litte different. The pump is an Aeromotive high volume jobbie that was supplied with my EFI system. It flows 500 LB/hour at 43 PSI. Supposed to be good for 1000 HP. Really nice looking stuff. A little overkill for my application, but I have it, so I'll use it.
Check out www.aeromotiveinc.com
The fuel switching solenoid I have only has 3/8 supply ports and 5/16 return ports. I might end up putting 2 pumps in and using the 3/8 ports in the valve to switch the return line.
I might as well volunteer to be the guinea pig if you want to try the lines at the rear of the tank. Probably the smallest line size I'd feel comfortable with on the pump suction would be a -8. We can discuss further when I visit.

Dave,
I just ordered some blank plates for the rear pickup so we'll be able to put in -16 if you need!

Gee Bob, while you're at it why don't you order up the next run of GT chassis panels from Garrett?

PS: Thank you too!

Morty,
Pretty soon. I'm making a bunch of detail changes that everyone will like - or not notice at all... Like a pedal assembly that is on something like seat tracks and is connected to the steering wheel. Pull a lever and both the pedals and steering moves. I just have to make it fail safe.

Bob:
I'll go for the peddle pusher delete option. Once I get it set for me, I don't want anyone else driving it much less making it fit their avoirdupois (that's the shape of yer shadow; yours being somewhat... hell, a lot less, than mine).
If you do anything, get the AC outlets/controls (somehow) up into the dash rather than hang off the bottom. I have scars on my right leg from the last one. Us full figured folk can use all the knee/thigh room we can garner. Dieting is not an (acceptable) option.
Mort
PS: I've lost my ERA code book, but as I recall "pretty soon" translates as "another year".

Thanks Bob!
-10 should be more than plenty. Shouldn't have to worry about vapor lock. Now, if I can just fit the pump(s) and filters under the body work.....
