FIA Tire Size
I'm buying new tires for #2049. It currently has 295/50-15 (rear) and 235/60-15 (front).
I have the rears already, but what is ideal for the front?
235/60-15....current set up
235/65-15....fill the well up a bit more?
Something else?
Thanks

The difference in diameter is almost +1". That means the car will have to be lowered in the front ~1/2" and you will lose 1" at the top of the tire. Do you have the clearance?

I would go with what you have now in regards to sizing. Your car appears to sit "just right" to me. FIA cars do have a different stance/tire to fender clearance than a street 427.

I doesn't even look like Avon does a 235...
225/60-15 or 225/65-15

Good point, thank you. So they have more of a rake...bit higher in the back?

I'm really outside the norm in that I went with 215/70-15 on the front and 255/60-15 on the back. Both are a just shy of 27 inches tall and fill the wheel wells fairly well. I had to shave the rear of the left front wheel lip down at the rocker slightly to get the front ones to clear.

I run the Power cushion up front, small yet tall. G7 in the rears.
Well balanced but not the best for track.

So we are talking AVONs right?
I believe it's 225/65/15 for the front - that's what I had up there before I switched to MT's recently; no 235 size; I hear that people have gotten away with 245s in the front but some or all have clearance issues.
btw, the MT S/Rs I got for the front fit better than the Avons: 26x10x15s fill the wheel-wells better and sit a bit lower.

Well, not the best picture....just a quick one with my phone.
Avons installed...
Front: 225/65-15
Rear: 295/50-15
This is the same set-up I had on my 427 street car. Thanks again to Nick Acton.

I'm happy with my 10.26.15 fronts and 12.26.15s in the rear. My FIA has a little bit of a nose-up attitude, veddy British-ish.

With the sizes you run, how is the balance. Our application is for an FIA MK2.
Thanks

Thanks for that information. I am trying to figure out which tires to run on my 289 FIA SPF/Riverside Racer. The racing organization that I will run with is specific about tires and sizes. I am going to go with Hoosier Street TD's and the sizes that I am allowed are: 225/60/15, 245/60/15, 275/60/15, 25.5/8.5/15 or 26.5/9.5/15
I am a little concerned about having adequate clearance, and also wanting to make sure that I have adequate rubber on the track. 245 seems way to small for the back, especially given that the 289 will have approximately 450HP at the flywheel.
Any thoughts? I am starting to lean towards 25.5/8.5/15 in the front and 26.5/95/15 in the rear, as they are a little less tall and slightly wider. that will help lower my center of gravity a little and increase grip. The car has transverse leaf springs, so lowering height means placing lowering blocks over the leaf springs.

in the main european historic races e.g. lemans classic and tour auto the tires are limited to front 215/70R15 and rear 245/60R15 (avon cr6zz)
