Default ERA Street 289 (Slabside) on BaT

Hey, I'm posting in the ERA Forum!

Typically, I don't pass along "for sale" Cobras, but I thought this one deserved a larger audience.

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...ide-289-cobra/

No affiliation whatsoever, but you just don't see too many "slabs" running around for sale. If I had Patrick's bucks (not his color palette), then I'd bid on it. But unfortunately my garage is full.

These 289 cars always look like they're ready for a "Land Cruiser" safari in jungle, but what do I know.

And of course, I'm disgusted by the AC plate. But whatever.

Sweet looking car. Ought to get a good price even for BaT. The usual detractors are always there though.

Yeah - I don't get the AC data plate either but it is a nice looking car. And I would say the shocks do need cranking down a bit.

A couple nitpicks besides the two mentioned above.

The raw fiberglass of the underside of the trunk is not desirable. If that’s the same finish for the underside of the hood, then I’d want them finished as original. I’m not a Cobra expert, but were those painted body color or left raw aluminum?

Also, those tailpipes appear to extend just a bit too far. Otherwise, great looking car.

On an original car, the underside of both the hood and trunk would be painted body color, including the tube frame and latch mounts.

Wow, thanks.

The finish of the underside of the trunk and hood are details I’d want to change on the ERA being auctioned on BaT. And remove the AC plate.

Same car was listed on seconddaily.com in February but didn't sell at that time. It's very similar to what my #3014 will look like, although I'm going with Vineyard Green and tan seats.

Sweet little slabside
Come on guys, 95% of replicas has the AC or Shelby tag.
Would love to buy this car, just no space as the second car I have still in pieces.
This would cut to the chase and satisfy need.
Very nice car.

Could be 100% of replicas, but I'm not a fan of the fake ID plates. Personally, I don't see a point to them other than misrepresentation. But that's just MHO.

Jeff,

That's what additions are made for...Surely when you built that new garage you engineered it for another bay or two....

Think vertically. There's plenty of height in there for a lift to double up on parking!

LMH,

Thanks for the "289 Cobra Restoration" connection. Certainly a wealth of information!

Nice car, only at 41,000 right now. Curious to see what it will end up going for.

Good call on replacing those kidney bean wheels. Either those are solid lifters and/or that’s a valvetrain needing adjustment.

Yes, one noisy lifter there, not a solid cam.

Could be lucky with a reset of lifter preload.
