Switches--rotary or toggle?
I'm pondering the switch configuration on the ERA 427 SC I've purchased, and whether one or the other is "more correct" for my car.
I've seen dash configurations with either rotary switches or toggle switches. It seems to me rotary switches are proper for street Cobras, and that a number of SC's appear to have toggle switches. I'm making the (rash?) assumption that's because some SC owners use toggle switches as a preference for track/competition cars--or they just prefer the look of toggle switches on their street-driven ERA's.
As an ERA owner, what's appropriate? Is there some "transgression" if I install toggle switches on my ERA SC (....and would that ultimately harm and a future resale value)?

427 cars have a combination of both. Do you have the street dash or the S/C dash?

...and THAT is another interesting point the car I purchased. It is an SC, but the builder (original owner), instrumented the dash in a street configuration.
Now pondering, too....if that (i.e., SC dash with a street layout) would also impact sales at some later date?

I thought both the SC and 427 street car dash used rotary switches for the wipers and dash lighting brightness - toggle for everything else except push button for wiper fluid.

The prior owner had installed a heater in the car. It has a one-speed fan.
I have access to fluted, unmarked Lucas rotary switches that match the other rotary switches.
Any thought if I should use a toggle or rotary for this? Does it matter, from an authenticity perspective?

ERA used a toggle switch (Lucas) for the heater on my car. It's one speed but there are 3 position toggle switches. I assume that is in keeping with the originals but might be a good question to ask in the Originality Forum.

Can you post a photo of your dash and switches? Many ERA cars have street dash configurations. It was quite common for many of the original street cars to undergo S/C conversion and leave the dash alone. Your car is a nod to that. Embrace it. The street interior is preferred by many.

Regarding authenticity, one has to wonder how many factory original SC's were equipped with heaters. Certainly none of the true track cars would have been equipped with that option.
My SC runs hot enough that even on cool nights (say 40 to 50 degrees F), once the engine warms up, and the fresh air vents are closed, you really do not need a heater at all. Each gallon of burnt fuel produces about 100+K of BTUs as I recall. So that is quite a large amount of heat per ~14 miles and smiles.
