Default Ignition Resistor

Hi We have a ERA #560 in our shop w/427 side oiler with MSD Ignition 6AL box. My question is where would the resistor for the ignition be located? We traced all the wires from the box through the firewall to the distributor back to the Ing switch etc and can't find anything that resembles a firewall resistor. Do all cars have them?
Thanks...

No. Most cars with the msd boxes do not run ballast resistors. You want the full voltage going to the coil.

Your MSD is CDI.

450v plus goes to the coil primary, so the orange on the coil positive is NOT 12v ignition supply, hence NO resistor.

Be careful around that orange wire, that 450v gives a nasty zap.

You are not kidding. I did a spark test on mine once and saw the nastiest spark ever jump about 3 inches to the intake manifold.

I'm talking about the primary side, orange and black wires, 450-550v depending on the model.

Secondary is much higher voltage but less current.
