Hi Evan,

Just 'by the way', it was a dark green (Vineyard Green actually) ERA 427 (no. 452) that really got my attention back quite a few years ago now. Its owner actually wrote a book about it ...."Birth of a New Machine, Building a Cobra Replica".

And not quite by coincidence, you might notice that the photo subject of my avatar, which is always sitting here in front of me on my desk, is a dark green Scalextric 289FIA. Even though my 289FIA is Viking Blue, you might have gathered that I do like dark green Cobras :)

Cheers,
Glen

This one Glen??? I sent this photo to a buddy, in Cal. and come to find out, this owner was Tom's first other ERA owner contact. Tom (White ERA 289FIA) has damn near the same lic. plate, and he jumped though all the hoop's Cal. DMV set up for him, They thought the MFG. was something dirty :) Cheers Glen. Hi Tom. No it was definitely ERA452, not 752. Colour is "Vineyard Green", described as a "metallic ivy", with roadster dash and no stripes, but with side pipes.

Cheers!
Glen

That 752 is a buddy's car and one of the inspirations for my build. It is absolutely stunning! He gave me a ride, then let me drive it--the first ERA I'd driven, although I'd ridden in two other ones and could tell they were far superior to my "learner" SuperFormance. Memories of that experience got me through the months of waiting.

Evan, you will have to get together with Tom Williams. I found him his 289FIA ERA, here in Gig Harbor Wa. Did a PPI for him, and got it sent down. As he said: I spent 16+years driving a pretend Porsche, when he could of spent those years driving a pretend Cobra :) Pm me, I'll give you his #. 752 is Tom's friend too. Cheers Tom.

I love that car.... LOVE it.

ACHiPo - Did you have ERA extend the rear wheel track out a bit so that the wheels/tires better fill out the wheel wells? The photos look like that has been done.

Yeah Frank, is a bit OCD in pursuit of original detail. But he has a wealth of information on 427 street cars. Haven't seen him post in quite awhile.

It was probably Peter who started this whole obsession. He owned an original green street car, then decided to build an ERA clone of it. We built a second clone after we made the major inner panel and body upgrades at chassis 721.
669 and real car

Yes the rear axles and control arms were extended.

It would be great if ERA were to someday market a complete 427 street roadster package with all the authentic details, narrow rear fenders, narrowed front fender flares, glove box knob, gauges, spare tire trunk configuration, etc included. Seems the market for street cars versions is gradually growing.

AndrewB 03-29-2019 09:38 AM

Yes! Absolutely the perfect 427 in my opinion. Well done and congratulations!

YES! That would be sweet. The narrow hip package for the fat wallet!

Uhhhh, there's about a two year wait as is. Even for us diehard ERA fans, there comes a point in time where we say "that's just too long to wait, I'm calling Kirkham."%/

CarGuy427 03-30-2019 09:44 AM

Very sweet. You must know someone. I’m still waiting for 815 being finished by mid May I’m assured. In all fairness likely my fault since would have been finished in October but had no place to put it and couldn’t drive it anyway. Way to cold. Have fun. My anticipation just went up seeing yours completed. We’re all like kids in a candy store when it comes to a Cobra!!

Yep, if I could do it over and had known the real wait I would have taken a closer look at Kirkham.
