Default ERA 744 off to a new home!

Just a word of thanks to all in the Club Cobra / ERA community. I’ve learned a lot and enjoyed the various topics and banter. So, 744 is off to a great new home in Maine (to a fellow CC member). Not sure what’s next for me, but I’m sure some day there will be another ERA in the garage. All the best!

Larry

I do hope in the future you have another ERA Cobra - there is none better!

ERA 744 went straight from Larry’s house to Metal Morphous/Ron Randall to have the Brown stripes removed and to add his aluminum process to the underside of the hood. Something sinister about an all Black Cobra and the aluminum under the hood should look great against the Black. I’ll update as it progresses.
Thanks again Larry. I’ve owned a few ERA’s and this one being a factory turn key with the outboard brakes and other options is one of the best I’ve seen and obviously well kept.

I just hope Ron gives it back. He had a grin, ear to ear unloading it from the trailer. He's a big ERA fan.

Hey Mike,

Congrats on another ERA. I'm curious about the stripe removal process. My understanding is that the entire car basically needs to be repainted. The stripes will leave a tape line indent as well, so the car also cannot simply be resprayed over either. The doors and jambs won't need to be repainted, but without any body seams that leaves pretty much the entire car.

Am I missing something? What is the plan for this process on your car? My curious mind wants to know as I was contemplating buying this car and doing the same thing (:

Thanks,
Troy

Hi Troy, Ron explained how he would proceed but I just sent him an email to elaborate so maybe he will chime in or I will copy his response and post it. I thought my only option was to change to another color or ghost the stripes. I personally like no stripes on a cobra. After looking at different types of pearl black to keep the stripes as unnoticeable as possible, Ron said, lets just loose the stripes all together :-)

Thanks Mike - please keep us updated on that. I also figured I would be forced to keep some sort of stripe and I'm partial to NO STRIPES myself. Especially on a black beauty like that!

ERA 744 is home. Ron and Pedro at Metal Morphous did an amazing job removing the stripes and blending the paint. I buffed the car today and there is absolutely no evidence of work being completed. Simply unbelievable. Ron had fixed chips, stress cracks, etc. on various cars in the past so I knew how talented he and Pedro are but I’m blown away with this job. Like Troy, I had my doubts. Wow...
I’ll take a picture tomorrow of the aluminum coating under the hood. It to came out very nice also.

The paint looks fantastic, the reflections of all the surroundings make it look like a black mirror.

Must look good in person.

That looks awesome! Will you be afraid to drive it for fear of stone chips? Mine's black too, but with white stripes and I'm keeping them. I'm having a paint correction and ceramic coating done in the spring.
I seem to often get behind the idiot who can't stay between the lines!!

I can’t wait to drive it. It’s going to be a long Winter. I find Black is one of the easier colors to touch up, but if it gets too bad, I know a good painter, LOL.
Here is The underside of the hood that Ron coated. It can be buffed Out with any aluminum polish. Pretty neat.

love the black car, I have a CSX that is black with red stripes. The side pipes are black and the wheels are powder coated (not painted) black. I love the sinister look as well.. very nice ERA.
