838 will be very similar to my last car - 755.
427 S/C;
big front brakes and ERA rear
dual front fans
oil cooler and in line oil thermostat (Improved Racing brand this time)
remote oil filter
rear battery
S/C dash with glovebox
soft top and tonneau
heated seats
Smiths gauges
leather interior
496 side oiler (roller cam, double pumper and aluminum flywheel)
TKO 600
6 pin wheels
USB and cigarette lighter chargers in the glove box and under dash - very useful on road trips
Raydot mirror on Left and I plan to modify the bracket so the door will open with the side curtains installed (standard location won't)
The main items that I really want are a very streetable side oiler; soft top and heated seats.
I am not a fan of TKOs, but there don't seem to be any other good options. The trans will get some type of blue printing before going in. I am leaning towards Liberty Gear.
The first two ERAs were picked by someone else and were certainly not my color choice. This car will most likely be 65 Mustang Poppy Red with Wimbledon white stripes and black interior.
This car will do some long road trips including Route 66 from Chicago to the coast, Hot Rod Power Tour and the 4 corners run. My wife and I love long road trips in fun cars.

I have seen a couple red cobras lately and they really pop with the stain black wheels. Even a bronze wheel will look amazing.

OK, if you're going with the outboard braked rear with the parking brake, have them cut a little trap door in the side of the tunnel to service the front u-joint like Jaguars have. That will cost next to nothing and make your life easier. With the dual front fans, do not have them wired on the same circuit as the puller fan. Instead, have them wired so they come on if you throw the override switch on the dash that turns on all the fans. Consider having Bob build you a removable Turkey Pan if you're going with a single four barrel. That will make your tuning 1000 times easier and include a 4-way flasher switch as well.

I have heated seats. They don't do a whole lot, but then I really don't need them. After about 10 minutes the cabin is quite warm.
I put in the foot box vent fans and wish I wouldn't have. They are noisy, but without them there's not much air movement at all. Tend to think it's better without. Plus on hot days, the vents pick up hot air off the pavement and route it across the headers. Kinda like a convection oven.
I doubled up on insulation around the cabin and am very glad I did (I have under car exhaust). The only really hot air (besides the footwell vents) is air that leaks between the fender and the foot box--again convection oven courtesy of the headers. Need to fill the gap with non-expanding foam.

I think I had some high density foam material about 2” thick that I cut some strips from and shoved up between the fenders and the foot boxes just in front of the doors to block that off. Most of the heat I feel is what comes up over the tops of the doors from the exhaust when I get caught at a light.

Don't Forget the Tow Hook
Have them heavy-up the passenger side front quick jack linkage and drill the quick jack for a tow hook installation. If they install my chromoly piece you can drag the car sideways should you need to. See this thread for a refresher on the tow hook installation and linkage heavy-up. Can I Dangle My Car in the Air from the Quick Jacks Alone?

I have heated seats but they only work during the Summer above 80 degrees.

I have never taken my ERA out for a really long drive (meaning over an hour) when it was really cold, although I do have both a soft top and side curtains. I always thought that if for some reason I did go for a road trip when it was in the 30's or so, I would just get one of those heated travel blankets that plug in to your cigar lighter and use that. They actually look pretty snuggly. Mostly, I don't even take her out in the cold, and now I consider cold to be anything below 60 degrees.
