ERA 3035 just started
3035 to go for powder coating next week. Possibly ready by early next fall/winter ? This will be a black with red leather slab side street version. I built and owned #407 from new in 1994 until 2020. Than reconditioned a Dearborn Deuce that Edsel Ford II commissioned in 2005 for the auction at the SEMA show. Ordered The Slab Side early April. To old to craw around underneath another car so this one is turn key. Let Peter and company have all the fun. Will keep all up to date on added options as we progress.

Except the stray hurricane. Might have to buy a lift for the garage. My son had water over the roof of both his cars. First time we had that high a surge. Slow moving storm lasted over 10 hours. We were in the eye for 3. Looking forward to to car since it will help take my mind off how all these insurance companies lowball every thing. I'll probably still be fighting mine when the Cobra is ready end of next year!

That's what I told Peter. Love your gold Cobra. I had a D SP 427/390hp 1966 Corvette back in 66 that held the class record for it's class that ran a best 10:98 at 127 mph 1/4 mile and would have to run a 289 Dragon Snake for little eliminator. It had to give me one light. Only beat it once (Cobra got me 2 other times) along with a 69 Camaro 427 COPO (Miss Luby Chevrolet) that gave me two lights. That night I trailered both and took the Little Eliminator trophy at 75/80 Dragway Monrovia, Md. Took off my Wrinkle Walls, reconnected my exhaust and drove home. Always wanted a Cobra. Could not afford the $6000 for a 427 Cobra since my new Corvette was $4,200. Lots of money than.

It does take me back. The first Cobra I ever saw was a little 1963 or 64 (don't remember). I was looking to trade my TR3 on a larger faster sports car. My new bride didn't like the snake on the steering wheel so we passed on the little white Cobra with red leather and wire wheels. We bought the triple black 1964 Jaguar with chrome wires. This was 1965 and the Jaguar was purchased in England by a US Army Major. It was European Speced. It had 3 carbs and a 3:00 rear. Fasted top speed I ever went 160 mph If speedo is to believed. Shift into 4 gear at 125. I had my chance at a Cobra and blew it.

Man, 10.98 @127 with a 427/390 Vette is cooking! I’ve got a 66 427 I restored about 25 years ago. It’s a lot of fun but I have to say my ERA is actually a smoother driver and has a bit more leg room.

Had a lot of work done to it. Bought it new at Anderson Chevrolet in Md. Delete radio, stiffer springs, M22 rock crusher tran. Changed rear to 4:56, added ladder bars, M&H 10" slicks screwed to the rims. Engine had Sig Erson 6.20 lift cam, Heads reworked with all stronger after market parts, MSD, Headers, Hurst T shifter, Line Lock. Corvette was moss port green with black vinyl removable top. Lasted about 1 1/2 years on the street and about 25 times down the 1/4 mile (a couple of late night money races, the Hemis never learn) than the stock timing chain broke valves bent and punched a whole in the block.

Yea. Still and always a gear head. Will be 79 this December. The thing is hot cars were relatively cheap compared to today. After the Army I started work as a lineman for AT&T. I was driving a 64 XKE roadster. Went from that to the 66 Vette than a 71 XKE roadster, 74 454 Vette, 67 Vette on and on 6 Porsches 3 BMWs. When I retired in 94 I built ERA407 and kept it until 2020. Got an 2005 Dearbourn Deuce (1932 Ford roadster) and brought it back to life. Sold it last year and ordered ERA Slab Side Cobra 3035. So many cars I still want and so little time.

I’ve got a gear head buddy in his 80s who restores old Shelby’s (working on one now) and I think can outwork me at 71. You guys are an inspiration for the rest of us to keep going.

Probably not enough of room for all my meds. Cholesterol is 91 up from 87. have been on since 48, but it works. Walk 3 miles every day keeps my legs strong. I had found (during Covid when I stopped going to health club) that I was having trouble get up off the floor. Started Walking, and walking.

Great looking car! Love the color. What is the name of your Cobra Club? I use to belong to the Deeper South Cobra Club.

I was in New Britain on a super secret trip about a month ago and believe I saw 3035 in the frame shop. Not sure why I didn’t take more photos while there, so I can’t confirm it was yours, but think so. Definitely a 289 frame.

slabsides seem to be real popular. I wonder if folks are just getting burnt out on the 427 cars and want something different? Mine is 3027 and should be shipping out soon. Mine is not painted and took a little over 2 years, Turn key probably add another year to that. Black with red interior is going to look awesome!

Do you think people are really getting tired of 427"s ? I think there are so many people out there that still want the fire breathing dragon and are still young and dumb enough like I was to drive them on the street. I loved my 427 from 2 years before I bought it till...well... still do. When I finally decided on a change. I went big and got the 1932 Ford Dearborn Deuce, but really missed my 427. It's in Holland now a gent named Simon Vells bought it. Missed it so much that I couldn't stop thinking about it. Also, it road much better than any Hot Rod. Making a change to a Slab Side was easy because I had already owned a real Beast. I almost built a Dragon Snake, but decided to stick with a neat little street car with under car exhausts (I got snake bit back in 1995 and still have one hell of a scar on my left ankle). Will keep all posted on options as we progress.
