Default Status of D&D/ERA Grandsport?

Curious, I couldn't find anything in the archives..did ERA bag the project?

Thanks,
Jordan

phl1963 Phil had to take a time out for a heart problem. He is AOkay now. There is a problem with the Grand sport being built. D&D molds where sold to ERA. G.M. sent a stop order on both GSR corvette and someone that was going to build them in the southwest. You would think that GM would be greatful that the Grand sport was being built again. I guess like the cobra and Shelby the Grand sport replica is under the same heavy fire. GSR raced one last year in the one lap and finished second to a factory backed viper and 2 pro drivers. The car got into two many mags. and G.M. is upset. What a bunch of DOPES that run 1 of the biggest auto companys. Wait til Ford starts racing that GT-40 next year. The new ZO-6 with the 7.0 liter will have it's hands full. This is a replay of the 60's all over again. I think ERA has the Grandsport on the back burner for a while. They hired 3 people to help in the building of the cobra and still can not keep up with the orders. THIS car is hand built from the start to the finish, and it takes time. My friend wants a coupe, that is going to have to wait. Hey Jordan, you can always start your own company? Rick Lake

Thanks for the info Rick, I hope Phil is OK. Although I am fond of Chevys, and midyears (see my gallery) I am not up to starting my own company I recall seeing the ERA prototype at Carlisle in 98 or so and it was gorgeous..I hope they can make it happen.

Thanks again,

Jordan

PS- Congrats on the Pic is Kit Car (just got my copy)

I owned the D & D demo roadster, white with blue stripes and #2 on the side. I purchased it from Dean after the 1995 shootout in Phoenix. Sonny Adams in Mexia, TX was geared up to build the GS coupe and actually finished one or two. It is too bad that this car is not being reproduced now. I have been looking for another and they are very hard to find.
