What size allen wrench for oil temp sending plug
Bob,
Do you happen to know what size allen wrench is needed to remove the plug from the top of a Canton Racing oil pan? I want to install the oil temp sending unit, but don't have any allen wrenches that big. As much as I would like to buy a whole set, since I bought the car I'm much more frugal (read "broke").
Just cause its so much fun, I've attached a picture.
Thanks,

Rick, use a bolt with a head that will fit into the allen screw, with two nuts jammed together to take it out...or just grab the bolt with a vice-grip...cheap substitute for a big allen wrench.

Try the head on a 3/8 inch ratchett.

Ken/FakSnaks,
Thanks. Great (cheap) ideas. I'll give them a try.
Where were you today when I went and bought a crowfoot ratchet head to install my water temperature sensor?

It should take a 3/8" internal hex wrench.
Do it right........

I would say its 3/8' also. Go treat yourself as you will likely need the same size for plugs in the intake that won't be used.
I know your water temp sender will go in one of those holes.
You want big allen wrenches? Have a look at the one thats used on your adapters lugs should you have the Halibrand (read trigo) wheels.
I am assuming as you do have an ERA
Thats 12mm i think.

I would make sure you go ahead and get the right tool, because you will need it for the water temp plug, at least we did. We turned a 6 sided plug into a 12 sided plug (almost ), that's how snug it was in the manifold.

OK, I broke down and got a new hex key set.
The size is indeed 3/8".
I tried to be frugal - I really did.

Traveller - I think that is a good thing! They have gotten me in enough trouble already.
