Made the ERA plunge!
Sent in the deposit this morning . I was wondering how long the wait will be and would like a time clock setup just like the one for the start of the Spring Fling for a count down.
Peter told me what chasis number you are around. Make sure that mine is not the dreaded 666.
Catch ya later
Ed
PS - Can you please send me some pics of my car. I would like to see what she looks like

Well it wasn't official until I put the check in the mail. Sorry I could't stay longer We had already eaten when you decided to eat so we decided to head on out. Did anybody else show up?

Ed,
Don't worry about getting #666 - for an extra $10K Peter has a "Exorcism Package" that includes filling the radiator with holy water and stuffing the seats with garlic.
Congratulations - the wait is always too long - but worth every minute!

Nope, just me, Joe, Ed, and Alan. Oh, and a red FFR that none of us knew. I guess it was too stinkin' hot for the rest of the Cobras.

Congrats, Ed. I remember the Saturday morning I woke up and had an epiphany, realizing I could afford to order an ERA...making that phone call was the start of a great decade of making new friends and just enjoying the ownership of a neat car.
Just make sure you send Peter his monthly "bribe package" to ensure prompt delivery of your car...he prefers small, unmarked, non-sequentially-numbered bills...

Refresh my memory, how is an ERA delivered. Is it complete except for drive train, or is other assembly required?

However You Want
From the ERA 427 web page:
MAJOR COMPONENTS NOT IN THE BASIC KIT:
Engine: Ford 427 or 428 recommended, others possible
Transmission, Ford toploader, Richmond Gear or Tremec 5 speed
Rear suspension unit based on Jaguar XJ sedan, or our custom outboard-braked design
Subaru or ERA steering gear
Upper steering column and steering wheel
GM front rotors and calipers (bolt-on wheels only)
Front coil-over dampers
Wheels and tires
Handbrake handle and cable
Exhaust system (side pipes or undercar)
From here, they will perform, for a price, any additional work you want, up to and including a turnkey vehicle.

Hey Bob does Ed's message sound like someone else you sold a car to? I sure hope Turk doesn't see this thread who knows what will happen. Hopefully he won't tell Ed how to speed up the ERA build process. Ha Ha Ha.
Regards, FIA Mike
PS: Ed, welcome to the ERA family.

Mike,
The good part about already having the "Turk Experience" is that I've become quite good at ignoring e-mail from certain people.
Not from you, of course!

Thanks guys! I am very excited but I know that I have what - about 11 months of wait (Is that right Bob?). No I will not bug anybody at ERA to death. I experienced what Turk did to them - not first hand - but here at CC. I would not wish that on anybody! I think of ERA like a waiter - If you're good enough they just might not spit in your salad.
I will push to get a web cam but it hasn't done much good in the past. Maybe you guys should make a movie or documentary about making a car. I would offer my car to be the one you follow and you could send me the video to edit. That could be done on a daily or even a weekly basis. What do you think Bob? I good idea?
Catch ya later

RU:
A web-cam has been rejected. Teddie at ERA has suggested that they put up a taller fence around the welding shop and let the U Conn grad students come and observe the action. He's sure that they could get several dissertations out of the "interaction" of the crew...
I've found (from long experience) that Peter responds best to the promise of beef. Yes, take him a steak and he's yours.

RU
Just to give some substance to the comments (see above) about the ERA "compound" being a potential study site for grad students working on their doctoral dissertation: recently the head engineer (who shall remain nameless) was seen in the welding shop tacking up a proto piece. To protect his sandaled bare feet he was wearing welding gloves... one on each foot.
