Default FIA headers

Does anybody have any pictures or drawings of small block headers for the FIA. Are they a shorty design or a true long tube type.

The FIA headers originally were of a very short primary tube length about 12", esentially a short tube into a downturned 3" collector. When they were originally designed and homologated, the header science was in its infancy (1963) and the gains available with longer primary tubes may not have been fully realized. This is what I fabricated for my application. These are for a 289.

Rick

PS: www.CobraRestorers.com has pictures and product available of the original FIA Header.

Our primaries are the same, whether on a "race" system or undercar.

Bob, any idea if your headers will fit on a Kirkham 289 hybrid? What is the diameter of the primaries?

Thanks, Jim

Bob, again you are the man. One more question. Do you have pictures or drawings of how the side exhaust is postioned relative to the outboard frame rails. I've found some oval NASCAR mufflers that measure 3 x 9.5 x 16. The mufflers and related oval exhaust pipe have a 3" thickness and I am wondering if there is room to fit a 9.5" wide muffler under the car and still have the appearance of the original side pipes. In case you are wondering I am doing all this because of the huge amount of money I'm spending on a motor I don't want it choked by a restrictive exhaust. Plus I want it loud... Thanks.

The primary pipes are 1 5/8" OD, feeding into a 3" collector. I think we can have 1 3/4" primaries made on special order.

I have no idea whether they'd fit a Kirkham. I don't even know whether they'd fit our 427...

Tight City. We've got 10" width and 17" length and 4" height available for a muffler.
