Found this on GT40 site:

If interested contact Mark @ 630-774-9050 days.
Is this allowed at ERA?

Don't know, but I bet it would bring in some decent money. What is the waiting list for a GT...4 years?

Bart:

My experience with ERA is that Peter tries very hard to maintain the order and integrity of deposits. He has called me from time to time (I've had two GT's on order for a long time) to see if I'll allow the next guy to start or would I transfer my spot to someone and go to the end of the line.

I've said yes from time to time because I have not been ready to have him start the car. (It's a long story: I'm waiting to do a MkII, have the motor, but want the correct transaxle / gearbox).
With the GTs, it has taken them awhile to gear up for the next run of stainless chassis.

If you had laid down a deposit four or five years ago and you decided that (for whatever reason) you didn't want to go forward, wouldn't you want to sell/assign you place in line? ...and maybe try to recoup something on your investment? And on the otherhand, if someone feels they can't wait, perhaps there is a price to be paid for obtaining an earlier opportunity.

Ike:

Now that they are into the production of the next run of SS tubs, I think the wait has come down a bit. They got backed up while Bob (ya know he's getting on a bit) tried to figure out (i.e.; remember) which pedals go where in the foot box.

The new tubs look neat and there are (as ERA is wont to do) a number of running changes that have been made to the design over the past 13+ years that they have been producing the cars. All with an end to improve the car.

As an aside, I waited 5 years for my first ERAGT #2038. To keep myself occupied I built two ERA427s while I waited and "the years just flew by." The 427s are simpler cars to do. I was able to more than recoup my investment in each when I moved on to the next and by the time the GT arrived I was more than ready to tackle that project. As a result the total build time (excluding paint) was less than four months (weekends and some evenings, only). Of course, I should add that the motor and gearbox, plus all the other parts were on hand and ready to go when the toy "box" arrived from ERA.

J

PS: I've waited almost as long for Exoto to deliver a 1:10 GTMkII.

Wait could be fun. Instead of 12 months you have 48 months to torture Bob and Peter with phone calls and e-mails. I wouldn't trade it for nothing.

Turk:

Just got back from a trip up to ERA, dinner with Peter and "Hutch" a customer from Japan here to check on (and actually do some work on) his ERAGT before he ships it back to Japan. Hutch says that the amount of food Peter consumes at one sitting could feed a family of four back in Japan... and well too. (Course when I join in, they could feed a whole block in downtown Tokyo.

Jim

PS: I went up to check on my GT tub which is going together on the chassis jig.

I e-mailed Mark last january when he claimed to be the next in line. Wanted $15000.00. I'm in the que now with a completed chassis. Glad i didn't spring for $15000.00 looks like i'm ahead of him.

Lloyd:

What options are you considering? Left or right hand drive?

Jim

I'm going left drive. I think there are a enough visabilty issues with the GT with out adding being on the right side. I'm going pretty much standard with flares. I've got an NOS zf that i purchased two years ago. 351w/408 450 hp. 17" pins, A lot of decision about the interior i'm putting my choices and money in the hands of Pepe. I feel the pain in my wallet already. I'm buying the standare issue brakes and susspension from ERA.
I'm looking into a painter out of Wallingford Ct. I'll weigh the differences between him and one of ERA painters.
Any suggestions i'm open and it's still early to change
