Compared with the web site, advertising in Kit Car is marginal. We will still put an ad in every once in a while, but 98% of our buying customers find us some other way.

outsourcing....
Snakebit,
Just another indicator of a company that has been or will be hit with the OUTSOURCING of our economy. The Hi-Tech and Engineering labor force was hit hardest and first last year, and it's merely trickle down.
Did you watch the "Meet the Press" type shows Sunday AM or any of the FNN Financial shows of the last few days.
JUST A SIGN OF THE TIMES!
I'm sure there will be retorts on this, and it's not meant as a political comment or a slam, THEY'RE HERE!!!!

Grumpy, really? ERA always has one heck of a waiting list...why read more into ERA's answer than is there? They don't need to advertise in Kit Car. We should all have such problems.

nothind derogatory intended here. to advertise or not to advertise, and then how to advertise is always a contentious marketing question in any industry. especially so when a company does so very well with so little advertising. a fine line sometimes between too much or too little, or when do ya withdrdaw. for firms not doing so well, then effective adv is obviously needed more
as strictlypersnl says : "98% of our customers find us some other way".
with the strong marketing presence of ERA and their long time high product recognition/reputation/quality and excellent customer handling... and known brand awareness within the industry...coupled with their longstanding order backlog...why advertise on a regular basis ?
i guess if it ain't broke don't fix it...seems like money well saved to go instead into product upgrades vs un-needed adv expense.
just tickle the interest of folks who are looking or considering, keep the ERA name out and about for those not yet in the know , thru websites and occasional advertising. kinda like maintenance drugs (prescription variety). the big bang meds worked, now it is only maintenance meds that are needed.
ERA has been and remains in an enviable position within the industry. and may it continue. a friend has ERA #5, over 20 yrs old yet looks like it is one day old. a testament to the product then...and now. bill

advertising..101
Tom,
You bet, WHY ADVERTISE, when you own that segment of the Upscale COBRAs. If anyone "shops" for a COBRA be it parts, kit, roller, turn-key less, or completed COBRA, you will hear of ERA before most. Their reputation speaks volumes, so why advertise in an area of advertising that is viewed as just "kits".
As to the note on economic reasoning, hide and watch. We created 2.6 million upscale jobs last year, and lost 16.2 million upscale jobs to overseas clients, whether United States Corporate connected or not. Take x-Ray reading Technicians; in our area company was set up locally by a local to send x-rays to India to be "read", he doesn't own the company, is merely a salried "building space tennant" that shops work for an Indian firm.
I know we created 23.9 millions jobs in th $23k annual range and lower, so things are rosy. THIS IS NOT SHORT TERM.
