Default ERA Rear End & Torg-Thrust D Wheel Fit

ERA says there is a minor problem putting Torg-Trust D Wheels on their rear end design. Has anyone done this and how difficult is the necessary machine work?

TampaFla,
Is the problem to do with the center hole in the wheel? If it needs to be larger diameter I can see where it would be difficult to find someone with a lathe or a CNC mill that could handle the job but it could be done.
Could you consider the Torque Thrust IIs instead? American Racing will make the IIs to order. I wanted the Ds for my car but could only get them in standard offset, so we had to go with the IIs with painted centers like the Ds. 6 weeks to make the wheels. Still waiting.
BTW I'm going to be in Tampa/St Pete area the last week of April. Maybe I could stop and see your car???

The "pilot hole" on the Ds is too small according to ERA (assume that's the center). I was afraid it might mean using a lathe to cut the rear wheel center holes larger. Not sure why ERA makes a hub for bolt on wheels which won't fit the recommended wheels ??

On the waiting list for the ERA body (August), just making sure all the parts fit before it gets here. The motor is almost finished and the transmission has been rebuilt. Had a similar problem with the toploader (shifter won't fit and no ERA adapter available). Had to get one (an adapter) manufactured when I found that out but unfortunately it was after that fact. Don't want to buy the recommended wheels if they don't fit the rear end. May take your advice and go to the IIs if I can get the machining specs from ERA.

Tampa:
Try sending an email to "strictlypersonal" here on CC and let him know what you're running in to. He may be able to help.

Thanks. Got a reply from ERA. They can machine the hubs on the ERA rear end down to fit the Torg-Thrust D's. I just have to remember to have it done once they get the body ready to ship.

I'll try to find some wheels locally to measure the pilot diameter but - should I fail - if anyone could give me a measurement, I'd really appreciate it.

I am beginning to have second thoughts about putting bolt on wheels on an ERA car. While ERA can machine the center (pilot) to fit, it seems the Jag parts are incompatible with US bolt on wheels (bolts are larger, threads are different, and the wheels themselves have to be machined also for flat not cone shaped lug nuts according to the manual).

Sure would like to hear for someone who owns an ERA car and put bolt on wheels on it to see if I'm going down a difficult path and should opt for the pin drive wheels instead.

I originally had Torque thrust D's on my FIA car. Eventually changed over to the pin drives. But I do have my old torque thrust D wheels with BFG's on them P215/65/15 on fronts and 305 Euro TA 50/15 on the rears (3,000 miles). Also have some billet aluminum covers and spinners made to cover the lug nuts. If you are interested I will send some pictures.

The Torques thrust wheels look good, I just had to have the pin drives.
