Lead time on an ERA kit
When an order is placed, what is the typical wait time for delivery of an ERA car? Thanks

I got mine in kit form (assembled less paint & drivetrain) in four months. Expect to wait a year for a turnkey.

It depends- it is generally anywhere from 6-12 months depending on what they have in the pipeline at any given time. I would call ERA and talk to Peter- he will give you an accurate time estimate.

Ordered may 29th, 06. Received May 20th, 07. Ordered quite a few options however. But, did not have it painted which would have added some time. Get In line early! Worth the wait.

Placed my order on January 7, 2007. My car is presently at Tony's for paint, and should be painted in the next 2 weeks (it's been there since May). My motor is being built by Keith Craft, and I am hoping to have the finished turnkey car in September. I will be visiting the plant after the car comes back from paint to go over the final build details. RD

My experience:
The time depends on how much you are asking ERA to do. It also depends on what is in line in front of you (ie; kits or turnkeys, etc.) Sometimes, certain folks, for whatever reason, ask to be put back further in line and therefore the next customer can move up.
So, give Peter a call at the shop. At a certain point the time is what it is. They work steadily, cranking cars out and the car will come. There are some customers who feel that by being a "pain in the ass" they will get their cars faster. The reality is ERA doesn't play games with places in line or seriel numbers, etc. Those custoemrs just end up being a "pain in the ass." Half the experience is dealing with the gang at ERA, and it might as well be fun for everyone. The time can be will spent getting your other parts to gether making paint arrangements, etc. because when the cars do come they can go together pretty quickly if you're ready.

worth the wait
I ordered my car 7-22-04. received in washington state via intercity lines on 10-12-05.tony painted the car this added about 8 weeks. Tony does a fantastic job on the body and paint.my engine builder here in wa. required another year.this gave me more than enough time to finish the car. I just licenced the car in may 07 and now have about 700 mi on it.It has been a long wait but I would do it again.

Ordered on June 14 2005, received my basic kit + powdered coated frame + other options in March 2006.
Use Intercity Lines. They were outstanding.
If you're building it yourself, get the powder coated chassis and bonded body option.
I'm having a blast building mine. Limited by $$$ (too much $ flow, and the spousal financial alarm starts blaring). I should be running in 15 months.
I am thrilled with the quality of my vehicle.

Doug, you hit the nail on the head. The build is a rewarding experience, even though time is precious and limited. ERA has cooperated fully with my build and I hope to be running very soon. Expect, however, to spend twice what you figured, both in time and $$.

First deposit 3/07, 2nd deposit May 07. Phone to see if received. Phone call back "got your check, placed it all on red, we lost".
To this date still waiting for chasis # and trying not to be a pain in the A$$.
Waiting, waiting, waiting. According to this web site it is all part of the ERA initiation
I am setting my sites for December this year We'll seeeeeee.

Snakebite-
If you sent for your 1st deposit in March, 2nd deposit in May, and this is only June, and you are already getting anxious and calling about a chassis number, you need to relax and find a hobby to occupy your time. You won't get a chassis number until a week or two before they actually start welding the frame. And I would trust Peter's estimate on when that will be. Besides, think of all the time you will have to figure out what color to paint it.

Just be glad you didn't order a GT. When I ordered my first ERAGT, I also ordered an ERA427SC to "tide me over" until the GT came (some three years at the time).
Get your drivetrain, pick out your color scheme and, all in all, you should be on the road by next spring.

Actually I was just calling to verify check receipt, which is why the response.
Peter called me twice today once with # 2116 , a half hour later another call #2119 . Peter said said he was reading it upside down and he was going back to bed .
Anyway my number is 2119, onward and upward.
Now comes the option part, $$$$. The fun, oh the pain, ohhhh the fun!
Now to order the engine, find a painter and plan plan plan. Would love for it to be completed in time for some late spring runs .
Glad to have a number, can't wait to get started. Will be calling on all's advice and help on this network.

One thing to keep in mind...any options you buy come INSTALLED. Take it from me, I bought many options after delivery, and had to figure out how to put 'em on. Also, their newly-designed outboard-brake rear is a smart option. And, 'Tony's', ERA's De Facto Cobra painter is among the best and least expensive. Good luck with your Cobra.
