Default trailor resistor

I am having a hard time finding the right trailor resistor for the turnsignals. I have tried several auto parts stores and have several types of resistors. None work. The all have multiple wires for 2 bulbs and I need them for 1 bulb. I was hoping you might have a supplier or have one you could part with. There is no part number on the one I have only a patent number. Please advise about locating a new one.
If anyone has a part number or idea about where to get them, please let me know. I guess they still make them for older cars, but where to find them I am at a loss of where to start.
Thanks for you help.

Do you mean the "trailer relay?" I believe it is a Standard Ign Tc52 - Trailer Connector. It's available here:

We've used General Automotive #43502 and Del City #74993. Here's one from JC Whitney.

Don't be confused by extra wires that are supposed to go to the parking lights. They simply pass through the "box" and aren't part of the signal/brake circuit. I literally pull them out of the relay if they're there.

Does the flasher attached to the plate the relay is attached to work and of the lights? I have 3 wires, yellow, brown and blue off and a purple, blue and no yellow to attach to. The yellow was not hocked up and the other 2 were. Thank again.

PS; Thanks for the correction on relay vs resistor. Electrical problems and terms always confuse me.

This shot is taken lying on my back, face up, head towards the pedals, which are towards the bottom of the picture. Thus that little yellow sticker that labels the spare switch wires in the upper right corner of the picture is towards the passenger side of the car.

The yellow wire must be connected to a wire from the column switch. It's what powers all the signals.

See page 5 in the instructions. (or e-mail me for a link)

The 427 looks a little different, since the relay mount is connected to the dash harness through a 12-pin plug. Harder to do on the FIA because of the three different dash configurations available. On the FIA, the connections are done individually.

Patrick,

Due to your under-the-dash picture, I now know what to do with that odometer reset thingy for my Smith's speedo instead of letting it dangle under the dash.

Great pictures.

Paul

I rely on my odometer more than my fuel gauge for figuring out when to gas up. I just reset it at every fill-up and make sure I don't go more than 150 miles before filling up again (I get 10 mpg).
