Talking ERA 753 - Final Assembly in Progress

Hi Everyone,

I thought I'd post a few pictures of ERA 753 as final assembly has begun. Attached is a picture of the nearly completed trunk area with polished aluminum panels and eletrical components installed.

The red box on the left is an electronic fuel pump controller (the car with have a Keith Craft 482 FE aluminum side-oiler with TWM Injection).

Progress on the front of the car is shown in the next picture.

Ron Randall at Metal Morphous smoothed out, painted, and clear coated my footboxes to give them a really smooth appearance.

I've started a build page on our ERA. You can find more information on the car there.

427SC Shelby Cobra Roadster

Enjoy!

Looking good Fred! Looks like you might make the end of the season show @ Kimballs Farm at this pace.

P.S Don't park to close to me for it will make my ERA look old and dated

Thanks Sal. I'm hoping to take a week off in June or July to put the motor in the car and get it on the road.

Fred-

Looking great. Have Peter and the boys hurry up. My car is still in Limbo over at Ron's.

Can't wait to see yours finished.

Hi Bob,

One thing is for sure. When Ron is done with your car, you won't mind the time it took!

Fred-

Ron is done and to be sure the car looks fantastic. I think there is just "no room at the inn" at ERA at the moment for my car.

I have your cobra covered and safe, I have used it to sell another paint job. Does this mean I have to pay you commission

Hi Ron,

We're starting to get there. I guess my decision to go with the stronger stub axles in the rear is costing some time (to get the parts). Can't wait to get the car and start final assembly. John is promissing more pictures soon and I will post them when I receive them from John. Almost there...

Fred, are the stronger stubs for the jag rear or are you modifying the ERA outboard brake rear?

We are modifying the ERA outboard brake setup. I am using a high torque motor (630 ft-lbs, 482 ci FE from Keith Craft) and I felt that I needed the extra strength.

Dang, that's a lot of torque. With barely inflated big-a$$ slicks on the back I could see you straining the original stubs. You might think about a wheelie bar....

I can only hope to get that good of traction. I am trying to get a set of Goodyear gumballs for the car. That's probably all of the traction that the beefed up IRS can stand.

The car will have an EFI setup and I've strung for a new FAST XFI controller with electronnic traction control. I am hope that this will control the wheel slip and maximize traction.

For some more information and pictures of the build, check out my gallery or our cobra build page at http://www.anitafred.net/HotRod.htm

Well, if I see you in my rear view mirror I will politely move to the right and allow you to pass. Awesome.

Talking More Progress on ERA 753

We are making some more progress on ERA #753. As you can see, most of the aluminum in the engine bay is installed along with the radiator. All of these parts are polished and really look great!

And here's a picture of the front suspension:

and finally a picture of the back of the car with the roll bar installed:

Enjoy!

Oh Man. Those pictures are tricking my brain into thinking I need to build another ERA ...but I'm happy with mine. I really enjoyed building mine, and get the itch to build another one every once in a while. Very nice. Looks great.

I was lucky enough to be able to see your car first hand at the shop over the weekend. It really is a great looking car, and I could see the great care they were taking to put it together. I did get a few pics of it; here's a teaser!

Here's a link to my album of shots from the visit.
