Question ammeter wiring question

Bob,
I am confused on wiring the SMITHS ammeter. On page 8 of the wiring directions It shows an illustration for a smiths ammeter.
The illustrations shows
Brown = negative
Red + postivive
Below that in the directions it states for smiths ammeter
Brown= positive
Red = Negative
and then refers back to the illustration again.

Which is correct? Am I totally missing something here?

One is for a car with positive Earth (ground) and the other is for Negative Earth (ground). My best guess is for red to Positive and brown to ground. Worst case is the gauge will require switching of the wires to get the gauge to register (+) when charging.

The illustration is correct. The bottom text was mistakenly left in referencing when the Smith gauges were wired "backward" a few years ago.
