Default Anyone have a copy of......

.....an installation/assembly manual for a Hurst Competetion Plus shifter for a Top Loader?

I've searched the web with no luck.

Bob,
I notice in the diagram the reverse arm part # 19 is shown in the up position. Mine came from ERA installed with the arm upside down with the linkage hole in the down position. which is correct ?

Yes. We reverse the arm to retain the original location of reverse.

P.S. The above only pertains to the 427. The 289FIA retains the other configuration to match the original Borg-Warner pattern.

Question for Bob, does this look right? Everything is in neutral and reverse is rotated toward the front.

I'll have to ask Doug, but the pictures that I have show the reverse (middle) lever down, probably to match the Ford pattern.

OK, it also looks like I have 3rd/4th upside down as well. I'll flip em around and see if I can get it to work.

If I put the reverse arm in the "up" position, as indicated in my photo, it works.

The proper Ford pattern for reverse is all the way to the LEFT and UP, correct?

Edit: Never mind, some go LEFT and UP....some go LEFT and DOWN. This matches the pattern on my shift knob so I assume that's what the linkage was intended to do.

The problem with Left and Down is hitting reverse while trying to get second.

That makes sense. Mine is left and up. I found something on the net indicating that Ford made both patterns. Not sure why.

I just came across this item. I trust that you have the plastic (or similar) allignment tool to help set up the linkage properly.

Just as well I checked what is new at ERA.
This week we will install (fabricate) a shifter for the current car.

Thanks Bob, nice .pdf file!
