Default Avon 245/60 - 15 on front of FIA

Bob,

Do you think there are any interference/rubbing issues if I go to the 245 series in the front of my FIA (2080)?

Thanks

Bob McLinden

I'm not sure. If one of our FIA owners with 235-60s on the front could measure the clearance with the tires turned...

Thanks.

Well I got off my butt and did some measuring.

The left side is definitely the critical side. With full left lock the rear of the tire clears the aft fender well by .5 to .75 inches. With full right lock the forward tread clears the lower fender lip by .50 inches. All measurements are at normal ride height. I am using Eagle GT's, 235/60 - 15's. Would like to go to the Avon's 245/60 - 15's if possible. The diameter of the Goodyears is supposed to be 26.1 inches while the Avons are listed at 26.7 inches. That leaves maybe a .25 gap fore and aft with the larger tires. Is that adequate?

Thanks.

It's close but should work out. The only time one goes to full lock is during very slow maneuvering, so I don't think any other factor will be added into the mix.
