Default Some Misc. Install ?'s

Hey guys, I've run across some misc. ?'s during the last couple of days...see if you guys can help.

1. I can only find one white wire coming off the gas tank. There are two wires coming from the harness, a red one and a white one. Where "should" the other red cable be? I felt the top of the ridge where the take and frame meet but I did not fee another cable. I will check the wiring pages again as well.

2. I have the standard electric fan that hooks in the back of the radiator. I tool everything apart and painted in black like the original car. I put the fan back but something seems wrong. The wiring harness coming off the fan is on top of the fan. Seems like it should be on the bottom.

Any help would be appreciated.

I just did the wiring on mine and I am pretty sure the other wire in the harness just gets taped off. I can check my wiring supplement if needed.

The fan is symetrical so you could have mounted it upside down when you put it back on.

The connection at the tank is white-to-white (mail-to-female). The pink wire is taped off.

The fan should be installed so that the wires come out the top.

Thanks guys. I did what most of my customers do, asked before looking in the manual. Found the answer to one question just by looking. The fan question was a little bit more elusive. Thanks guys.

I am curious about the taping off of the other wire. I don't have that particular model, but build lots of cars and they always require a ground at the tank. The fuel gauge is basicly a variable resistance to ground in most cases and if there is no ground connection how is it supposed to get continuity? In most cases the ground is hooked on to a screw of the sending unit mount. If that isn't connected won't the readings at the gauge be inaccurate/faulty? Without the ground lead you are relying on the transfer of current through the tank mount at the frame through the screws and into the sending unit....many areas for poor contact to develop.

That pink wire is a power lead for an electronic sender that's used with a fuel cell.

The sender is grounded to the tank through the attaching screws. The aluminum tank is bolted to the chassis directly. Never had a ground problem with the system.
