Default Got "The Call"

Peter called yesterday with great news. They've started my build!

Now the real fun begins.

He's going to give me a call next week to provide me with the details.

Definitely made my weekend!

Ray

It's always a treat to hear from Peter. How much of the build are you having ERA do?

ROA-3:

Let me know the number and I can take some pics for you when I go up there. Generally, I go out once a week to every 10 days...

Rich:

The build is going well. I've been able to spend some quality time on the car in the last 2-3 weeks.

Instead of telling you what I did...I'll tell you what I have left....Not much!

I have to put the doors back on, install the dash, put the hood back on and install the seats and seat belts.

I do have some other small things but my plan is to get 95% of the stuff done this weekend then bring my car down to ERA to have them install the under car exhaust, check it over and down to Wethersfield!

Frank.
That sounds great. With all the rain this weekend, you should be well into that last leg of the build by Sunday night. I KNOW you feel pretty good now!

patrickt - I'm having ERA do a full turnkey build.

LodiWino - Peter told me he had some paperwork to sort out, so didn't give me the build number yet; he said he would call some time this week to give me the official number. I'll post it when I get it.

Rick, I know what you mean, I'm very excited about it!

4228street - I've been following your postings on the board as you complete your build and have been taking it all in. Although I'm getting the turnkey build, I know that it's good to pick up the tips on what's involved to build one. I would certainly appreciate any pics you could take for me and will post the number as soon as I hear from Peter.

And finally two general questionS - #1, In general, how often should I plan to try to make a visit to see the progress at this stage? #2 Anything specific I should be focused on at this point?

Thanks!

Ray

Great choice! ERA is excellent. What are you having them build 427 or FIA?
Give us some details. You will be counting the days.

Well, it's all a matter of luck to tell you the truth -- all it takes is the wrong person to come down with the flu and you can lose a month or more right there. But absent something goofy happening I bet you get car sooner rather than later. A lot of people that would be pi$$ing away their dough on expensive toys in better times are not doing that right now, so you're an even more valued customer than you would normally be!

A 427; I'm already counting the days,

Did you get your ERA new? How was it to go thru inspection in NJ?

Patrick, any idea how long I should wait at this point before I take a trip up there to see something? I hope to get some pics to follow the build.

You could go any time, but certainly go after some of the real work has been done, but before most of the work is done (ie, after it comes back from the painter but before the engine is dropped in). If you are unusually tall, short, fat, long legs, short arms, big feet or anything else then you'll want to schedule a "butt-in-seat" test with Doug. If you are not familiar with some of the more esoteric options (like the different type of fender flairs), then you should head up there with a list of things to look at (on other folks' cars, the shop floor, and so forth). What I would recommend is that you download and read the entire ERA manual and brochure a couple of times.
