That's fastd's silver 289 in the background, and yours is just out-of-sight, around the corner to the left....

Thanks Jeffy; I couldn't quite tell if that was mine or not. I miss it; I hope it will be done soon. I know exactly how you feel.

I am really excited for you; I am guessing you have been through a lot with this car already. Please keep the pictures coming.

It is; we all checked it out: undercar exhaust and spats! There is another silver 289 there, just being finished, but it was inside...

I really like the way the spats look on my FIA (even though I went a little overboard in "contouring" them; it had to be done) with the silver color and the old style FIA wheels. In my opinion, the FIA still edges out the 427 body style.

I think I am going to pick my car up next week; I will of course, spend a couple of hours at ERA checking out everyone else's car; it never gets old.

OK, then. Here are some shots of my engine, a 331 stroker built by Dan Dalena, with 48 IDAs. Here is a nice view of Dan's backside:

The Weber set-up was built by Inglese; hydraulic roller camshaft by Comp Cams; Dart aluminum heads:

These light blue valve covers are only temporary: ceramic coated silver ones have been made:

I love seeing an ERA build, that is completely different than mine, take shape. I am so glad you decided to follow through on it. Even if you only hold on to it for a year or two, it will be something you remember all of your life and it will provide you more enjoyment than I can possibly convey in writing.

Default Distributor

What kind of tach drive distributor is that? Will it be driving a 4" Jones Motarola tach?

A Mallory, Series 26, I believe, which is a dual point but was changed to electronic with a conversion kit. It will drive the 4" Jones.

Hyde-

Nice to hear from you, since your car was one of my inspirations! The black wheels, polished spinners and hubs, Webers and ceramic silver valve covers are all being incorporated into mine!

My son Peter surrounded by Cobras; the silver 289FIA to his right is almost complete:

Thanks for the picture of my car; I know they are taking good care of it.

Pete is a good looking kid; he's gonna love his dad's FIA...doesn't seem fair he'll have access to it as a teenage when most had to wait 20-40 more years.

If Pete is anything like most of us were at that age then you'd be a fool to let him drive it alone.

Thanks, but you probably mean Nick; Pete's facing away from the camera, but he's also handsome. They have a good looking mother!

Nick (16) and Pete (20) are city kids; neither has his learner's permit, let alone a license! That day they were more interested in getting to Angelo's for lunch than hanging out at ERA! I suggested going up to the welding shop, and they said they'd already seen welding in Manhattan; asked if there were also any jackhammers...Smart-ass kids, as well as good looking!

If I were them I would be thinking "that car of dad's will be perfect for doing midnight donuts at Central Park South."

where are you going to keep your new car? Manhattan? I lived in Hoboken until recently; the sight of your new ERA driving down 5th avenue at 2:00 am would be sweet...

During the warm months I'll keep it in Manhattan. In the off-season, a friend in Westchester has a spare garage space.
