Default ERA tire options

Bob

I have an ERA made in the late 80's - it currently has Goodyear VR50's on it (245-15 front - 265-15 rear). They are around 24" diameter. Is there a maximum tire width and diameter that will properly fit within the ERA wheel section (front and back)? I'm looking at getting billboards for my Cobra.

By the way, I've got original Halibrands - really old Halibrands.

Any input will be appreciated.

Your exact desired set up is on my car-early Jag rear ERA, mag Halibrands and G'Years. My Halibrands' backspace was machined by Eagle Machine (neighbor to ERA). Call Peter to arrange details then buy your tires. Fit perfectly, no worries.

Question - when you state 'backspace was machined by Eagle Machine' what does that mean? Does it mean that I need to do something with my Halibrand's? I'm hoping just to find the tires and have them mounted - does my project need to go beyond that?

I really appreciate your input.

You should check your backspacing. The rear wheels are probably correct but the front may need some machining.

Yes as Bob said, pull them off and measure the backspace. Then call Pete or Bob with the info and do what they tell you. It's easy and they'll be perfect.

Thanks for the input - I'll go that route.
