help me please
Very important please, i'm Federico from Italy and I need for my documents of my Em cobra some tecnical confirmation about the tires that are mounted in my cobra. They are 235 60 r15 and 275 60 r15
I've allready asked help to Evertt morrison at Mr Tom, but no ansewr about it. Please if somebody could help me. If i don't have this document from the factory I can not drive my car in the street. Thank you very mutch |

Just what documents do you need? Are you referring to the speed rating and such of the tires or what? We don't have any type of requirement like that which I am aware of. Could you tell us a little more about just what document you need? Ron |

In Italy we need to have write in a book called Libretto all kind of tecnical informations about the car: owner, year, engine etc etc and also the size of the wheels alloud. Now the want the evidence that my wheels are the correct size, and they are asking me some documents that can confirm that, because here in Italy we dont know who the wheels must be for a cobra replica. They asked my to have from Everett Morrison a tecnical paper that tells that my frame number can have this whells size: 225 60 r15 in front and 275 60 r15 rear. If possible others size also indicate them. Sorry for my english and thank you for your help. Displease that Everett Morrison doesnt answer me at my mails |
They call it here in italy the tecnical card of the factory that create the car... the Everett Morrison tecnical card in this case, also only about the wheels size in my case

I own an Everett Morrison and have the original manual plus some additional documents. No where do they specify tires or wheels. There are several suspension choices with this make and most others that I think you'll have a difficult time finding a specific document outlining the tire and/or wheel size.

EM cars could be bought or built with any of several types of suspensions. My car has suspension from a 1987 Corvette. If you can determine which suspension your car has, perhaps you can provide data for that type of car for your Libretto. If you don't know what kind you have, post a picture and we'll try to identify it. ... It is possible that EM is no longer functioning as a business. I doubt you will get an answer from them. You need to consider other ways to meet your need.

The newer EMs are the Generation IV. They come with 13" rotors...(which won't fit with 15" wheels). Maybe yours is an older one. I have a kit car mag from a couple years back with 3 EM cobras on the front page....but I think they are all Gen IV cars with 17" wheels. I'll look for it.... it has a bunch of stats, but not sure it will help you.

Man I feel for you living in Italy. No offense, but your government is all kinds of screwed up. Like the others have said, no cobra manufacturer specifies wheels and tires for their cars. It's pretty much 'do whatever you want'. Sounds like they are requesting something that does not exist. Hope you can find a way around that. Best of luck. |
Maybe just ask them to draft you up a spec letter with your chassis number. Or write up what you need an get them to stamp it for you.

I found my magazine article, but all 3 cars had 17" wheels. I'd keep trying to get a hold of Tom. He has returned all my dad's phone calls in the past and has been good to deal with. Not sure how they're doing right now though.

Ask the officials if The SFI rating info for wheels and DOT specs for tires would satisfy them. Then ask what Italy has for top line requirments and choose a tire/wheel combo that exceeds it------You want tires with 200 mph rating ( or kph) you got it----------
go to some of the exotic car dealers and look at the tire specs on the side wall of the tire--If Corvetts are fairly common over there, wheels and tires from one of them should be usable-If your EM has the corvette suspension ( will have aluminam control arms, rear housing and side drive shafts) then wheels /tires will be easy to get |

You are helping me mutch more than anybody here in Italy... So if I have undersstud EM is not anymore in buisness... very bad. The document that here are asking me doesnt exist in any cobra's replica... very bad thing. Here in Italy it is everything so mutch difficilt with the documents. Probably the official Logo of EM can help my a lot I think... also because if they want to check in Everett Morrison nobody will answer... it make my smile but it is a very bad thing to do... By the way they also do not accept the documents about sospensions because they want a document that doesnt exist... I think 'll have to resolve the problem by paying somebody or with the official logo. Lets see what will happen Thank you so mutch again |
You may be able to get something from the wheel manufacturer. There are only a few wheel company's making the wheels for our hobby. Do you know who made your wheels?

If you go to this thread (http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/ever...ly-manual.html) there were a couple of members with build / assembly manuals. You could reach out to them to see if they still have those manuals and if the manuals say anything about tire and wheel sizing. I realize it's a different kit and a different manufacturer, but I've looked at the Factory Five assembly manuals for both the MK 4 and MK 3 cars. I found nothing in the MK 4 assembly manual about tire sizes, but page 174 of the MK 3 assembly manual (http://www.manikllc.com/manuals/Fact..._v_2005-09.pdf) does show maximum rear tire widths of up to 315mm, depending upon wheel width and back spacing. There is also a Tech department phone number you could call - perhaps they could provide a document of some kind that Italian authorities would accept, given that such information is not available from Everett Morrison. |

I don't know whether this may help, but I'm hoping it will. I attach scans of some correspondence from E-M's engineer Brett. At the time he wrote this (2001), he was an owner of Everett-Morrison, so this could be considered official correspondence. The first page, (scannedimage.jpg) is a letter from Brett describing wheel widths for the 15" wheels and also the tire width range. You can ignore the rest since I was asking about 17" wheels which they had not done yet. The other two images give some dimensions for the 15" wheels. I hope this helps. In my Everett-Morrison builder's manual from 1995, it suggests these tire sizes for the following suspension systems. Mustang II 4 lug: Front 225/70X14. Rear 245/60X14 Mustang II 4 lug or Granada 5 lug: Front 235/60X15. Rear 275/60X15 Corvette: Front 235/60X15. Rear 255/60X15 Jaguar: Front 235/60X 15. Rear 275/60X15 These were only suggestions. When I purchased my tires, Buford Everett suggested to use 245/60X15 on the front and 275/60X15 on the rear. However, these specs are in the builder's manual, but I do not know if a copy of the pages with the info will satisfy your needs. I can e-mail those pages to you if you wish. Federico---did you compare the pics to your suspension-It could help us a lot in knowing what suspension your car is built with. Mine is C4 corvette-1987-1996-
I can scan a copy of my order and invoice from E-M as sorta verification of correctness and a sketch of tire / wheel profiles for 17 inch Corvette type tire/ wheel. I also have may have owners manual from 1992 Vett that would show tire/ wheel sizes. Can you post any pictures of your car? |
