Default Finally legal

Finished jumping through all the hoops for the State of California this afternoon and picked up the license plates at DMV.

Now I can finish up the last bits (fog lights and side windows) and rework the stuff I want to do over.

14 months and 3 days from receiving the kit. Not too bad.

You have accomplished a great thing, -- you have generated a car and have it titled in the state of CA.

Cool car ... and way to go. Considering all of the work that you must have put into the project, you got it done in a short amount of time relatively speaking.

Congratulations!

When did you get your SB-100 tag, out of curiosity?

Got the SB100 on Jan 2nd. Was planning on completing the car around May but ran into some delays/problems that kept me from doing other work so it compounded the schedule.

The car is running a 347 from Levy Racing along with Levy's 5 link rear and billet front suspension. Big Wilwood rotors with 6 piston front and 4 in the rear.
Gordon Levy has been great to work with and the motor runs real strong. Spins right up with a lightweight flywheel clutch combo.

Ah. I was wondering if you were one of those who got them late into this year.

Me, I'm gearing up for door-camping on the 4th.

Oh, and what's next?
I'm going to try to get some finish pics this weekend.

As far as what's next....... Don't know.... and don't ask that in front of my wife. She's just starting to recover from Garage Widow Syndrome. Building a car in 14 months requires a lot of nights and weekends for someone that works full time.
My brother in law ask me that on Thanksgiving and I thought she was going to shoot him for even suggesting it.

Default getting it steet legal

Hi xlr8or,

I live in Fresno and want to build a FFR Cobra replica. Can you mention the steps and any problems you have encountered with the state of California in regards to getting your kit car fully licensed and street legal?

Thank You

Here's a recent thread regarding SB100 and all of the steps involved. It's the only legal way to register your car in California. The good news is that once you're done, your car will be smog exempt for life.
