Default Cougar vs TBird I.R.S

Is the 1989 Mercury Cougar XR7 I.R.S setup the same as the T-Bird? My local wrecking yard has one and I expect they are the same, but just want to see if anyone knows for sure.

Thanks,
Carl

I used to fool with these a lot.

There are two types - 7.5" and 8.8". The 8.8" was used on the 1989-1990 Cougar XR7 Supercharged 3.8L and 1991 5.0L HO which are not abundant. The 8.8" was used on the Thunderbird SC (89-95) which are very abundant.

I'd go for the 8.8" IRS setup which has disks. I bought one complete with everything for $225.

Yes, they are the same.
Just make sure the Mercury Cougar XR7 is a Super Coupe.
